Peggy122,
No...No thank you, I mean I take being token advantage of very serious. I will never allow it regardless of my sex's actions. Do I think he's guilty, yes to a degree. do he deserve a public lynching....ahhh.....No! Do I want to see him in jail, yes only if he really did it. Do I put fault in the victims......if they're gaming yes....if they really was token advantage of .......no!
The personal experience I described earlier, makes me sympathetic toward women who delay the reporting of assault, but I can also see why most people take such an atagonising stand against such women.
This case provokes a lot of reflection in me..
Did Mr Cosby induce any of the drugs he distributed during these sexual interactions?
If he didn't , shouldnt that raise some suspicion of questionable motives , seeing that couples who utilise drugs in sexual recreation, generally do it simultaneously or alternately?
From what I understand, lawyers often try to establish wholesomeness /deviance of character as part of the basis for determining innocence or guilt.
Unless Mr. cosby had an open marriage, his apparent lack of remorse over his multiple affairs , when contrasted with his loud espousing of traditional family values (outside of his television projects) , and his arrogant attitude about his sexual exploits, pokes a small hole in his integrity / credibility I think.
By contrast, Beverly Johnson, a successful model and one of the victims, has led a successful and scandal free career for decades. Even if she was releasing a book at that time, which might offer a motive for false accusation , that one fact has to be weighed againt her reputation over a lifetime , which to my knowlege has been above board. If it was proven that some of the other victims have also led scandal free/decent lives, then it does give those women some degree of credibility. The fact that Janis Dickerson, another victim and former model , has had a life drenched in scandal , and therefore is rife with motive for a accusing Cosby, could possibly ,mean , that Mr Cosby was NOT guilty of all the charges , but possibly guilty of some.
As for the contrast between the retribution handed out for Cosby's offenses versus that of other white celebrities, I do agree that society has been harsher towards Cosby, and I dont approve of such injustice...
But Im concerned that if the issue of racism receieves too much of a focus , that the potential sexual assualt of these women will be overshadowed, and the women who were genuine victims will never be vindicated
