I see it as opportunity. We had a black president for 8 urs that (I am sure) would back it. But they wait until Trump....along with the other crap now

True, it could be partly opportunist but when a similar thing happens here it's definitely a left /union /student driven thing.

I see your point yellowrose, and I really don't know. My thoughts come more from feelings or things I sense, not so much from facts. I do know that with major changes, which we are going through, sometimes things get worse before they get better.

Nelsons column was built in 1840, yes, had to google it, I thought it wasn't as old as that. At one time we had the crazies and the French wanting us to rename Waterloo train station in London as it offended them! I'm sure they'll find something different to cause trouble about soon!

Is it just another form of wanting to mess up the country like they do here? Just amazes me, these people can do this but if they saw a starving person they'd walk on by!


Good question. Why didn't these riots happen during Obama? When Trump was elected, college kids needed play doh etc. Now this. Why didn't this bs happen before?


I'm not sure how to word this, but I suspect that the thought or desire was always there. It's just coming to surface now that we have a President who speaks his mind no matter what and opening talks about getting rid of anything that stands in the way of change, imo.

So now it's kind of like "Follow the Leader". Someone sees somebody do what they've wanted to do, and it somehow gives them the okay to do it themselves. Especially if the person they are following is in a Publicly high status. It's not right and is messed up, but it seems to be how it goes most of the time.

I agree with both you and Mikey, it's getting really out of hand to the point of ridiculous.

It's like you never hear about the guy or company who employes a few hundred people unless he gets rid of one !


Yes, and it's kind of like someone who has a desire to jump off a cliff into a very inviting looking lake. They want to but are afraid. They see someone else do it and know now it's safe to do so, so they too jump.

In the crazy minds of some of these people, they may feel it's now "safe" to do this, or speak out, because after all, the President does.

I'm not saying it's Trumps fault or that he's to blame...each person is responsible for their own behavior. I'm just saying maybe the "Follow the Leader" thing is coming into to play.


RIGHT ON THE MARK

until now, presidents didn't say things like

'in the good old days, they used to treat them very very rough'

'isnt this FUN' (after an altercation where a protestor was punched by multiple supporters)


'try not to hurt him, but if you do I'll defend you in court'

'Id like to punch him in the face'

'maybe the second amendment people can do something'


I mean, its willful blindness not to see the HUGE difference between this POTUS and any others over the past TWENTY years


the tone he set with his rhetoric and behavior certainly plays some part in emboldening others to behave in kind,,,

Wow, powerful song Mikey, thanks for sharing it. What I got from it in regards to the topic is how important history is. The statues and pictures show us where we came from and how far we've come. Destroying that would be a shame for the future generations as well as the present.

Thanks msharmony. It makes sense to me that it does have an effect on what's going on. We are taught at a very early age to be role models for our siblings. How many times have you heard your parents tell you not to do something because it will be a bad influence on your younger sibling? And we're taught the same thing in school....Be a good role model. In an indirect way, we are being taught we have influence or power over others. Well if we have, as ordinary people, that much influence over others...how much influence would someone in a major leadership role have?
