True, not a thing can be done to stop or prevent it.. if it goes, it goes. Guess the most catastrophic would be the whole shebang coming loose and the planet goes.

Well, the planet wouldn't...go, but the world as we know it would be changed.

Considering we have only been in existence for a very short time, our current conditions that we think of as stable is merely a heartbeat in time compared to the dynamic processes of the planet.

People would need to live millions of years to experience the real significance of geological events. Its all relevent to our perception.

Most earthquakes are rated as bad by the impact they have on our civilization. Most are minor issues for the planet. Super eruptions like what Yellowstone and a few other volcanoes are able to produce are major events that are few and far between for us but looking at it as a movie of the planet's lifetime, is a common occurance. Times scales that are not similar.

Just like Ice Ages that wax and wane. The planet is currently waning out of its current ice age. We see it as global warming but it is a brief natural cycle to the planet.

I have (Do you have your towel).

“But the plans were on display…”
“On display? I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them.”
“That’s the display department.”
“With a flashlight.”
“Ah, well, the lights had probably gone.”
“So had the stairs.”
“But look, you found the notice, didn’t you?”
“Yes,” said Arthur, “yes I did. It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the Leopard.”
