Since the most recent hurricane I've noticed a few more "thrift" stores opening. I also noticed an increase of selection in the thrift stores I go to.
There's been more garage/yard sales too.
Its been a couple months and there's still a lot of tarped roofs. Lots of yard damage. I'm figuring more people are letting go of more stuff to raise extra money or clear out space. There's been an increase of construction material scarps and slightly damaged used stuff too. Especially outdoor items. Nearly every resale shop, flea market and yard sale has some type of outdoor furniture to sell. My son bought a pretty nice go-kart for his son for $35 and all it needed was a tire and some control cables (he did switch out the engine with a bigger one).
Since the hurricane our Dirt Cheap has really gone down hill. The hardware/furniture sections are trashed out and ripped apart. The whole store looks like it was hit by a .... hurricane (it wasn't). The place is packed with customers and I think its too much for the staff to handle.
There's two more stores which just opened I still gotta check out. One is an antiques thrift store and the other is Bay Treasures, another what-not store.
In Missouri our town participated in an annual county long highway flea market/yard sale. With the pandemic restrictions, I wonder if they still do that?

While those were happening there were many yard sales in the area.
Around here, pandemic restrictions have impacted the festivals, carnivals, parades and cook-offs to the point it has impacted tourism. I wonder if the Missouri festivals are also impacted the same?
