So, I've been reading these forums long enough to know that a lot of people have a lot of trouble with profiles, matches and messages.

There is a feature here that allows you to BLOCK a profile.
Blocking a profile is not the same as Reporting a profile.
You can block someone but not report them for abusing the system.

Mingle2 is more than just a Dating site.
There are a lot of people that have friends in the forums and use the forums to express themselves, meet like-minded people or just read other people's thoughts on a multitude of subjects.

Most of the complaints I read are from people looking to find someone. Chances are they are using the search features of the site and complain about a wide range of things.

Using a Blocking Strategy in your search can remove those profile that are not within your search tolerances.
Let me explain.

You click a possible match profile and find it does not match your search. An empty profile, the wrong reason for being here, any number of personal conflicts that prevents you from ever being interested.

If you BLOCK that profile, it will not show up in your future searches. If you block the NON-Matches, not only can they not contact you, you will not have to wade thru pages of NON-Matches.

This will result in a search result that more closely matches what you are looking for.

So, I figure, block all non-matches to get more accurate search results.

Whaddaya Think?

Good advice but if you're not a premium member does that still work for the matches?

I was on mingle2 four years ago and came back 2017. I still have blocked profiles from years ago.

I left because it wasn't a Date site. I now search elsewhere and get dating gentleman.

I stay here for free.

I'm not sure about the matches but as far as I'm concerned the matches feature is useless. I more or less just ignore that.

All I'm saying is that the blocking feature isn't just for a hostile reaction. It can be used as a tool to filter out all unacceptable profiles to your search. A tool that many don't even realize they have at their disposal.

Blocking is for people to contact you.

I don't know about that.
I've blocked profiles that were once showing up but no longer do.

There might be a glitch but blocking blocks people from contacting another. Not from thw forums. Something may have changed recently so they don't show in searches

I dunno?

What I do know is that I have seen quotes in posts where the original post doesn't show up in my view?

I've read replies in threads directed toward people I can't see?

Blocking has nothing to do with the forums

So i block someone..
Which means they cannot message me again..
Good Good...
But how come then that this person/s are still able to see that i am online as and when??
This is pretty scary and total hypocrisy!!
They were blocked for a reason...yet are now 'stalking' and 'watching' my movements on here...
Blocking should mean a just that...
That they are blocked...Gone!!
