I can count the number of times I saw my kids on one hand in 2017.
I also have zero friends/acquaintances where I live now.
I don't have phone service.

What is it you want to know?

Advantages/Disadvantages?

It SUX pal...plain and simple, It SUX.

Living alone still seems very new to me, though it’s been over 4 years now. Even though I’m become ng used to it, I find the silence deafening at times and almost always have a radio or tv on low for background noise. It does help. I’ve thought about taking in a student for a roommate.

Notice that...you can live with someone else and live alone; but you can live alone and not to be..

I prefer to live alone, I have many interests which occupy my time and I would not want to live with family or friends, no disrespect to them I just like my own space. Having said that, I would marry again, if I ever fall in love again, living with someone you love romantically is different in my opinion.

The advantages are things being able to listen to your favourite music anytime, going to bed when you want, always getting to watch what you choose to watch on TV, eating what you like.....:)

the disadvantages are having to eat the same thing day in day out...if I ever open a restaurant it will have one very short menu... coming home to find 3 days washing up still waiting in exactly the position you left it...:(

I say all depends ... I can not do like I use too but still make the mistake of trying ... I live in the country ...
and my closes neighbor have all my emergencies no.
and even try to give their no. to my family ... but that does not always work either in emergencies ... now if I get hurt ...know one could be around ... to know that ... and can't afford the system.... I fallen and can't get up ... all I want and hope is to not be in great pain ... but who knows ... I am not afraid of dieing ...
just the pain I might have to go through doing it ... but what is meant to be will be meant to be ... but friends and family ck on me in ...
emergencies ... kinda disappointed that the company . I use for phone service could not tell a relative the lines where down in the area ...

and very nice of the officers to come ck on me ... tried to call them to thank them myself but could not get through ... an saved the kids a trip up ... to let them know I was ok ... and I did make the effort that same day to go out and call those worried about me ... so very hard for people especially the elderly to get help ... if a emergency in the area does arise ... so I thank some a lot ... smile2

It's kinda driving me nuts, I have a son with Autism that lives with me but he is his own person. He did ride with me to wal mart yesterday :) I don't have many friends Being married for 27 years all the friends were both our friends and non " none " have really contacted me but most were her family side.
I do get to walk around in my underwear all day on the weekends Ha Ha Kidding. It's always good to have someone to come over and talk or do something with. But I do not want them living with me.

I think it takes a strong personality to be able to live alone on a permanent basis and to resist the temptation to bring in someone, anyone, just for someone to talk to and to eat something different again...having someone to call every day and using the radio and audio books as your friend is good idea....for sure living alone is better than living with the wrong person, even if they are a good cook... .....

I have lived alone for almost 4 years now, it has already been said the silence at times is deafening, but as time goes on you tend to get a little selfish with your own personal space and become unwilling to share it..?

That is true from my experience. Before the divorce I had my own bedroom and office for a long time " months " and I did not want her in my space.

I enjoy being alone... for the most part..
.. and when I don't.. I go visit family and friends.... occasionally I have a lady friend come over and spend the weekend... I cook a nice meal for her we open a bottle of wine.. watch a little TV.... and then go out during the weekend exploring the city...
Come Sunday she goes home....

Then it's back to the normal routine work eat sleep repeat..Lol... for the most part I keep myself busy..... like everyone to keep your mind off the fact that you are alone...

But I enjoy my company...soooo... solo I go oh

Some years ago; a friend told me: no one living alone is completely happy. And that is true.
The most important facts for a person living alone are keep busy body, mind and spirit with positive moments and activities all the time as possible. And also;be interested to explore and try new adventures meeting new people at the same time.
Loneliness will be almost zero!....in that way.
