Where are all the threads in the deep end of this pool?

It says something like 2-4 million post for some of these forums, yet when I go back 1700 or so pages it's just blank?

click on.............community>Politics,Current News & Events

at the bottom you'll see pages listed...the last page with any
replies is page 685 the oldest thread is "St Louis takes game 1"
with 4 replies...4,203 days ago...

each community subject has it's own list of pages to get to
the beginning...i.e. sports, games, religion...etc etc

they also flush some of the really moldy stuff but can't figure out how to make the page counts go back down to where the topics actually begin
