There is the "lake of fire" -for which the word gehenna was used analogously... but it is interesting to note that death and hades (the grave) will also be cast into the lake of fire. (death and the grave destroyed/nullified).
Christ said God is ABLE to destroy both body and spirit there, but that is not necessarily what WILL happen. Some will have their PART in the lake of fire. It is an ultimatum for those who did not respond to anything else, but also a refining fire.
1 Cor 3:13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
Also... Those in Christ -dead first, then living -are made immortal at his return -"the rest of the dead" do not live again for another thousand years -so none are now in heaven (not our reward, anyway -though inheriting the earth will eventually expand to also include the entire creation) or "hell".
David did not ascend, as stated... but slept. Only Christ that came down from heaven is now in heaven -as stated -though the spirits of the dead return to God -as asleep -awaiting resurrection later.
