Middle class people have to pay rent or a mortgage. $75 A week × how many people?
My ex had a gf with 4 kids. She was feeding him everyday with her foodstamps and buying him gifts. He said if he had held on a little longer he would have gotten one of those expensive coolers. Her two oldest kids became of age and section 8 cut benefits and she had to move out of her gated community lol. She drove a school bus for special needs kids. It was a few hours a day. Her main source of income was welfare and child support. She pretended to be pregnant trying to move in with him. When that didn't work she claimed she was going to have to work two jobs and wouldn't be able to see him. He dumped her.

I get mad when I'm behind someone at the grocery store buying name brand with a food stamp card and I'm behind them with great value as a tax payer. I believe a lot of this is why Trump was elected. Like he said, people who truly need help, can't get it.


sounds like a problem with jealousy. because you choose to buy great value shouldn't mean everyone should be required to make the choices you do when it comes to what they wish to serve their family....

There budget isn't smaller when you take everything into account. For instance, section 8 paying over a $1000 a month for rent. Medicaid is free so that saves a ton in insurance premiums and deductibles. Then there is help with heat, WIC, eic, cash allowances etc. You are right. If these mom's get a job they take a pay cut. Our welfare system provides these people a better living than the middle class. There is no incentive to work.
I think this is part of the reason we see a lot of depression in America. There use to be a way of life that working hard got you ahead in life. But now you work hard to live not as good as the poor.

My son is single and isn't going on a cruise. But then again he didn't get $10,000 back at tax time. He bought 2 new tires and got an oil change with his return. He is one of the lucky ones because some people pay all year and pay again at tax time. My sister and her husband were in that category until she retired last year.

If being poor was so rough, they wouldn't be going on cruises, buying 4-wheelers, getting their nails done, and most of all, having more babies to keep their lifestyle.

section 8 is not money that the recipients get, it goes directly to the landlords. medicaid still requires MEANS BASED premiums, food stamps do

Most of the time I agree with what you post. You have a lot of knowledge and common sense. But, in this one spot, I have to disagree with you. One, Because, several years ago I went out a few times with a woman that bled the system for all it was worth.

She had three kids. She received 21 hundred a month in child support. She was section 8. He light bill every month was 20 bucks. No matter how much power she used. She lived in a home that would normally cost 700 a month to live in it. She paid 100 bucks. For her and her three kids, she received 750 a month in food stamps.

She worked under the table for a pest control company taking service calls from her home. She made another 600 a month from doing that. Every month when she got her food stamps she knew of several businesses that would exchange her food stamps for cash. She kept money hidden all over the house. The last time I went out with her she bragged to me about how she paid cash for a used, one owner, low mileage car. A two-year-old Caddy at the time. With 12 thousand miles on it.

What she didn't know, At the time I was a state worker. Since this is a public forum, I'll go no farther than that. There are a lot of people out there on the system that needs it. People that through no fault of there own wound up in a bad situation. That is what the system was designed for. To help those that absolutely can't help themselves.

For every one person that really needs the system, 8 figure out a way of defrauding it. It was 1 out of 8 then. What the stats are now, I don't know. I do know that many more are defrauding it now than they were then.




I dont know the fraud numbers. I know fraud always has and always will exist. I believe the fraud is more of an outlier than an 8 to one, because its very LITTLE to get buy on for anyone who has kids. I have BEEN on assistance and know about the appointments and vetting and requirements, its very unlikely that fraud is the norm.

if a man helped her make the child, she SHOULD Have received support from him and if that didnt cover enough to meet the poverty line, she SHOULD have been able to have means tested (that means that the amount is rated based upon how much on is making) assistance for her kids.

For every one person that really needs the system, 8 figure out a way of defrauding it. It was 1 out of 8 then. What the stats are now, I don't know. I do know that many more are defrauding it now than they were then.




I dont know the fraud numbers. I know fraud always has and always will exist. I believe the fraud is more of an outlier than an 8 to one, because its very LITTLE to get buy on for anyone who has kids. I have BEEN on assistance and know about the appointments and vetting and requirements, its very unlikely that fraud is the norm.







Well, There is more of it out there than you know. I know because it was part of my job to work those cases. When I left there was still a backlog waiting to be investigated. Years worth. I'm sure that by now it's worse.

I wonder if it was a larger pile than the backlog of recipients files up for renewal or review ....etc .... I used to work in the welfare office too.

To get into these subsidized housing you have to have at least one kid or be severely disabled and disabled from what Ive read is section 201.

She was feeding him with the foodstamps. The gifts were probably coming from her child support. I agree the father should help support the kids. I'm a single mom and don't get assistance because of assets. I told the guy I was seeing that I didn't want to exchange gifts because I have 3 kids and two grandkids to buy for. He agreed because he has 1 kid 2 grandkids. The welfare mom bought for my ex and lots of gifts for my daughter too. She was living well till those kids started Turning 18. She wasn't using the help to better herself. She was using the money trying to snag a man to support her when they turned 18.

Tax payers are in their back pockets because it's the tax payers working to make the money to support them. Of course someone living well off welfare doesn't want the tax payers to get involved and say "Hey, they are living better than I am off my money". Eic is cash and it's not limited to 5 years. But from what I've heard the new tax code limits it. I think after 2 kids you don't get anymore.

Food stamps could have bettered this woman. It fed her and her kids and she could have been saving her child support to better her children...

It was used to be a dating tool for her. This is the norm for a lot of these mom's on govt assistants. The men pile in and live in the sec 8 housung, eat up the food, use the woman's car, gas money etc, all off the backs of the tax payers.

well I guess the fact that they are in Section 8 housing and there is a waiting list to get in ( hint you need to have kids ) and stats show 70% or something like that of single women in the african American and I cant remember the number for the Hispanic community are having babies out of wedlock and african American and Hispanic women make up the majority of females led households in section 8 housing isn't a clue?

Some of us are capable of putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 4, I cant figure out why you think 2 and 2 equals 3.5.

if a man helped her make the child, she SHOULD Have received support from him and if that didnt cover enough to meet the poverty line, she SHOULD have been able to have means tested (that means that the amount is rated based upon how much on is making) assistance for her kids.




She was feeding him with the foodstamps. The gifts were probably coming from her child support. I agree the father should help support the kids. I'm a single mom and don't get assistance because of assets. I told the guy I was seeing that I didn't want to exchange gifts because I have 3 kids and two grandkids to buy for. He agreed because he has 1 kid 2 grandkids. The welfare mom bought for my ex and lots of gifts for my daughter too. She was living well till those kids started Turning 18. She wasn't using the help to better herself. She was using the money trying to snag a man to support her when they turned 18.


oh well. what they get is still ALL they get. Im not for taxpayers or anyone else being in the back pockets of people telling them what they can or cant use their budget on.

like I said, the programs dont 'better' anyone, they help get them through tough times for a maximum five years per lifetime if they are cash benefits.

food benefits dont 'better' anyone, except by allowing them something for their kids to eat with ... and that should be important





Tax payers are in their back pockets because it's the tax payers working to make the money to support them. Of course someone living well off welfare doesn't want the tax payers to get involved and say "Hey, they are living better than I am off my money". Eic is cash and it's not limited to 5 years. It was used to be a dating tool for her. This is the norm for a lot of these mom's on govt assistants. The men pile in and live in the sec 8 housung, eat up the food, use the woman's car, gas money etc, all off the backs of the tax payers.



really, so should 'taxpayers' also dictate to politicians, government workers and military how to spend their income, since 'taxpayers' also support them? Weak reasoning, bordering closely to the lines of slave ownership,,, because it promotes the idea that who ever has the money (the tax system is set up for those WITH money to give back money) should OWN the freedoms of those that dont....

my advice is stop being in other peoples business or assuming you know all the details of their situation ... there are frauds in this world. if you happen to know any, REPORT THEM.

but I ask people to please stop with the highly prejudicial classist bigoted negative stereotypes that lumps poor people in need together as fraudulent or as living somehow better than others in general. I have been there. WE DEFINITELY DO NOT.

well I guess the fact that they are in Section 8 housing and there is a waiting list to get in ( hint you need to have kids ) and stats show 70% or something like that of single women in the african American and I cant remember the number for the Hispanic community are having babies out of wedlock and african American and Hispanic women make up the majority of females led households in section 8 housing isn't a clue?

Some of us are capable of putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 4, I cant figure out why you think 2 and 2 equals 3.5.

people in sec 8 only need ONE child/ONE dependent, so where does it say they are having more than others with children (who also would only qualify for the category if they had at least one)?

let me use an analogy, everyone who works for a paycheck earns money.

to say that I know people who work at McDonalds earn more money than others, because I can prove McDonalds workers make SOME money, is illogical without FACTS to back it up, like actual wages.

likewise, taking two groups who have kids (families on section eight and families not) and claiming that those on section eight have MORE KIDS, is not proven just by repeating they ALSO have ANY kids. Proof is information about how many both groups have on average, where it is clear one number is LARGER than the other.

These are employees you are refusing to. Not handouts. Comparing welfare to a soldier is crazy. It's this way of thinking that has your people messes up. Saying that a job only benefits the employer is crazy. These thoughts are keeping your people in poverty.
