actually most democrats voted democratic
and most reps voted rep
BUT our system is not a popular vote, it is an electoral vote. so each vote has more or less of a value depending upon the state, which is why even if MORE are voting for a candidate in raw numbers, LESS electoral votes can still end up being cast for that candidate.
Why are you treating me like Im some kind of neophyte? I know this, most people with more than a modicum of intelligence knows this, just because Im Canadian , do you think we are stupid up here?
As to HW. I was explaining before about running a PR campaign. Bush said alot more than 'continue Reagan's plan".
HW successfully used the PR engine to exploit images of a black man named Willie Horton, who killed someone while out on parole. (kind of like exploiting the danger illegal immigrants pose in this last election with Trump)
That combined with a 'wind up the drums of war' type support of patriot fanatics with a suggestion of requiring the pledge of allegiance in school(kind of like the suggestion that no one can be trusted in politics except non politicians), garnered him enough of a following to get the votes.
you mean like how Bill Clinton wanted to show the American public how tough he was on crime personally flew back to Arkansas to witness the execution of a retarded black man named Ricky Ray Rector.
Al Gore did not beat Bush, but more people voted for Al Gore.
our system is not so simple as continuing to elect individuals based on what the preceding party politics were. The elections become a popularity contest where the most popular INDIVIDUAL(usually based on who runs the better PR engine) running wins, regardless of previous leadership's party affiliation or status.
You see this is sore loser rhetoric, the only people that whines about the national vote vs electoral college are the losers of that race.
Now here is where I will call Trump a hypocrite because he believed in I think it was in 2002 that the electoral college was a bad for democracy and now that he won its fine.
Truth be told the electoral college process is what makes your country unique and it works fine, it shows the genius of your founding fathers.
By the way 95% of the time the popular vote and the electoral college works hand in hand.
Hillary got more votes but in less states, Trump won more states, kind of worked out if you ask me.
