religion is TRADITION.

but to personally know God, hear from God, and understand God is real and you can see the effects of God is NOT RELIGION, that is a RELATIONSHIP.

therefore, religion is not personal. knowing God because God knows you is personal!!

Religion is unity of adherence to a specific doctrine within a closed society.

Doctrine (from Latin: doctrina, meaning "teaching", "instruction" or "doctrine") is a codification of beliefs or a body of teachings or instructions, taught principles or positions, as the essence of teachings in a given branch of knowledge or in a belief system.

Individual churches have their own specific doctrines which may or may not mimic other churches doctrines.
Most churches I have ever attended have a Statement of Doctrine in place.
Ask the preist, preacher or pastor for a copy of it.
It should align with your own beliefs.

There are hundreds of religions in the world.
Some famous authors in ancient times already expressed their beliefs that religion was made by human beings.
Epicurus was one of those ancient-Greek authors who was convinced religion was invented by the people. In his tetrapharmakon ( medicine against 4 sorts of fear ) he says : “ God doesn’t keep himself busy with us if he exists “
Epicurus said “ the gods “ because the ancient-Greeks were polytheists ( believing in multiple gods ) .
A more recent author who voiced his opinion about the artificial character of religion is Karl Marx. He says : “ religion is opium for the people “. He means that religion keeps people under control because they fear it and that that is the intention of why religion was invented.

Religion is something that evoluates as new civilizations take over.
It is different from era to era.
From culture to culture.
From person to person.

Religion itself is an artificial concept.
There is a distinction between religion and “ God “ .
Whether a “ God “ exists is something I leave up to everyone individually to answer that for themselves.
I personally consider myself an atheist. I don’t believe in a god.

I tend to agree.

Religion is a social construct.
Its used to control a society to try to bring unity to that society.
As with any society control measures, it requires a series of punishments and rewards for compliance.
It uses faith that cannot be verified unless you die.
Once dead, you can't return and confirm or deny. NDE doesn't count because NDE is not dead but Near Death. Dead is dead.

Validity of religion is suspect because there are so many different versions. Reality requires no proof and it remains reality no matter who is looking at it.

While I do believe in God, God to me is the unknown force that caused the Universe to erupt. God requires nothing of me and I require nothing of God.

Religion was mostly a collection of superstitions with few exceptions. Of course, the "religions" of Israel were the exceptions.

Literally, it is translated as "DREAD-demonism."

religion is like patriotism, it is a word used to describe a common but not specific value system that a large group of people share ...

The Bible, Quran, Torah .... etc ...is like The Constitution, in that it is meant to reflect the BASIS for that group.

I don't agree.

The Bible, for Jews and Christians, has a very specific purpose.

The OT was designed to help mankind evolve. To return, if you will, to what we were before we fell.

The NT was designed to help us tune into Christ Jesus and His Spirit of Truth. It acts like a tuner from a radio...

CLV Rom 10:17 Consequently, faith is out of tidings, yet the tidings through a declaration of Christ.

For some, religion is an exercise to help mankind become better. But this type of improvement, without His guidance, is what we call Humanism. Man's idea of the best that he can be.

Perhaps our Creator might have some idea of what we were intended to be.

Why bother trying to figure it out. Just be a good person at heart, no malice and do the best you can. That will be enough for any God.

if not, well I guess you will burn in hell. Along with the others that listened to my advice.

Religion is a system of 'government' using peoples fears and doubts and insecurities to make profit, which is then used to increase peoples fears and doubts and insecurities.
The 'government' is enforced by religious officers and acolytes, peer pressure, levels of exclusion, fear of excommunication or banishment, and other punishments, from ideas of franchise control in the form of rules or laws, as written by profiting imaginative men, written in the "holy" texts. devil

Are there any 'poor' religions not owning goods, chattels, or property ?
Do any leave all control to the attendees, and none to the robes ?

That's true. Any god who would send a man to hell for refusing to worship it or love it is a god worth neither.
