http://www.sott.net/article/391498-Saharan-dust-coupled-with-extreme-heat-making-for-miserable-outdoor-activities-in-Texas

saharan dust that has blanketed most of the DFW Metroplex with a brown haze in the air is expected to stick around for a few more days.

CBS11 Meteorologist Jeff Ray has been tracking the dust and said, "Things will get a little bit better, but probably not until Thursday or Friday will we get back to where we actually have some blue skies."

In the meantime Ray's forecast for the haze means people with air quality sensitivities will have to endure the conditions for several more days.

Dr. James Haden of Haden Allergy pointed out the haze isn't an allergen but rather an irritant.

"You're not only being exposed to dust but you're being exposed to the ozone. Those are two different irritants acting together to cause more problems," said Dr. Haden.

He said the best thing for anyone with air quality sensitivities is to stay indoors and keep allergy medicine handy especially you typical from allergies.

The Saharan dust traveled more than 5,000 miles from the coast of Africa all the way to Texas.

Not just DFW, but here in Houston to....I've noticed it in the air, but didn't know what it was till I saw this...

Imagine if it were a radiation cloud from a nuclear event?
Its the same pattern that brings hurricanes to the Gulf.
Additionally, an airborne disease vector can also travel those distances.
What is worse, is that even tho we know it happens, there is nothing we can do about it.

That is terrible, however, some things man cannot control on this Earth.

I used to live in the caribbean.
One year we were infested by huge locusts, and nobody that I told
back in Europe believed that they actually originally came
travelling from Africa.
I guess I will rest my case...shades smile2

I believe it...that's why I don't like the term "invasive species"...humans are the only invasive species on earth...
