In today's world it is common for others to treat others bad.
I picked up a few items at the Dollar Tree and the cashier failed to charge me for two aluminum pans. I corrected her and gave her the additional 2 dollars and tax to cover the error.
It floored her.
She couldn't believe someone would prefer honesty and when she commented that my honesty was unique I replied
Why wouldn't I be?

I spent the day at the DMV recently.
The place was packed and the line was moving very slow.
I sat there and watched people treat the clerk so rudely I felt like standing on my chair and yelling at them for their rude behavior.
When I got up to the counter, the clerk was flustered and kept apologizing for my wait.
I told her It was okay and I know she is doing the best she can for the conditions and that made her smile. When the computer took longer than expected to do my verification, she apologized and I told it it was okay, smiled and said that I know she didn't do it.

Kindness is no longer the norm in society. People expect others to be rude or dishonest. People expect to be screwed over.

Being honest, respectful of others and kind should not be the exception, it should be the norm.

I don't know maybe it is just my eyes but I see people do nice things for people all the time with no want of credit.

It may be diminished somewhat but there is still a lot of goodness out there.

hmmm, I dont hear or see it nearly often enough.

and in this world, unless one lives in a box, I think its nearly impossible to do anything that at least two people wont know about.

? you hold the door open for someone because they are old or struggling with something, you lift someone's baggage into a plane overhead compartment because they can't. You give blood because there is a shortage. you give a homeless person a few dollars, you let someone out of a intersection before you because they have a blind spot. you buy girl scout cookies when you don't even eat cookies. the list goes on and on and on.

I see it all the time.

A few days ago I held the door for a guy at walmart.
He was younger than me, I just happened to get there first and held the door for him.
He looked at me with a weird look on his face and said thanx, I said, no problem.
Being courteous to fellow man is no longer normal.
People seem to think there has to be a reason.

because they can't
because they have a blind spot

Being kind, couteous and respectful to another human being doesn't require a reason. Ya just do it.

well, we see it differently. In my eyes if you are struggling, I am going to help you. If you are not struggling, then you don't need the help... do you? I mean would you just start lifting everyone's bags into a overhead?.. no, right? If you see a elderly person struggling. you give them a hand, if they are now struggling.. they don't need your hand. Holding a door is a automatic which I never give a 2nd thought, regardless of age or a look.
And if they don't have a blind spot, then the normal traffic rules would apply...there would be no need for your assistance right?

So yes, many times there are reasons why you do these things.

It's been around since human civility . Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You. It's called the golden rule.

You understand that the guy broke the law? Many laws?
He had the guy with autism work, free, off the clock, violating state and federal labor laws.
By getting the autistic guy to work he also made the company liable to any potential harm to the kid. He violated OSHA laws, he violated EEO laws, he violated the kid's and company's rights by forcing the company into assuming liability.

But, well, it made people "feelz" good, so that's okay.

Not of laws. Who cares if government passes thousands of laws a year making everything illegal. We'll just ignore them based on how whatever behavior makes us feel at the time.


Great. Based on basic human nature that absolves any and all crimes committed by anyone that ever suffered any kind of trauma or stress.

I think there are many people reaching out with scts of kindness. There is always room for more people to jump on board.

I volunteer occasionally, so I see kindness given by others a plenty.

Works won't get you to heaven, only Faith will! But kindness is a fruit of the
Spirit.
