English and French are the two official languages in Canada..HOWEVER.. French is mainly only spoken within the Province of Quebec and in some Maritime areas,and very little out in Western Canada where there are a few ‘pockets’ of French communities
English is spoken exclusively throughout Canada -except pockets in Quebec..
It is not the law that everyone needs to know both...
Here out west (BC,Alberta,Saskatchewan,Manitoba,etc...) it’s pretty much all Anglais...

All I am saying and going by our recent history here but more then here what happened in Europe when those countries opened the boarders up to refugees.

And have pure pity for refugees, especially from Syria as that country and its people have lived thru... hell. I have no problem helping them

But, the European countries will be the first to tell you that with the good ones.. come a lot of bad ones. And it is those bad ones that come for one reason.. too wreck havoc on heir host country and their way of life and religion. As evident in France, Germany, Italy, England, Spain and others. There are areas within Sweden that are basically off limits now.. even the cops don't want to go in there.

So when countries try to be a " nice guy"... this is the rewards.

I know we are. Being Irish I know what my family had to do to fit in since they stepped off the boats on Ellis Island, with the others from Europe and other areas of the world. It was hard. We ( Irish) were considered the scum of the earth.

But They all came to melt in, contribute, make a better life not kill us because we were not of their faith.

And I know not everyone stepping off those boats were good but I can not recall any ethnic religious group mowing down people on sidewalks, flying planes into building, shooting random innocent people, blowing themselves up as human bombs, all to make a warped point ( of some sorts). And the only common denominator was that we were not of their faith... for that, many have died.

Growing up in my area (Irish neighborhood) us Irish Catholics did not like the Irish Protestants ...not one bit. but we didn't kill them or them us. That was not what our forefathers came here to do.

That is the difference today, the bad ones come with a purpose... and it ain't good.

The vetting process needs to improve greatly worldwide as the challenges that are present now were not present earlier in history.
