if you are a rightist, you go by truths that are spread by word of mouth, and anecdotal 'evidence'.

interesting that those types of places would exist in communities with swimming pools and such ... I am nowhere near that level of financial success, and I have not been in such places myself in this community.

Lol.. nice try.., yes I do have a swimming pool and nice house in the suburbs, but I work in NYC, Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx and I grew up there (remember) I go into these type stores all the time to get waters, soda's whatever. so I do see it.. and have since I can remember.. ya see its been going on forever.

Maybe if they stopped screwing the system and work they too would have a nice house.. and pool ;)

And by your last post, maybe you should start visiting some of these places.. and see how these folks are paying.. see what is really going out out there. then you would know what you were talking about.

I know what Im talking about. I have had to rely on that system before. I have read up on the ACTUAL numbers, not just my little experiences in my corner of the country.

Actually, I do go into those places all the time because we build in these places.. all the time. Bronx, Brooklyn & Manhattan.. And again.. I grew up in that environment. And again, the abuse has been going on since the conception of food stamps.

Relying on spreadsheets or a pie chart from the web as your source of information as opposed to actually being there day in and day out is not the way it is done. But tell me, how does your " data" show people abusing the food stamp system, how does it show people selling the cards or using the cards ( in conjunction with rouge store owners) to purchase items such as liquor and cigarette. How does it capture these daily transactions. Who was there to document it?

And you relying on the system has somehow given you a front row seat to what is actually going on thru out the country? how did you pull that off?. What I see in my urban area is done in EVERY urban area.. and everywhere where there are people out to screw the system. Cities and towns.. big and small.

And maybe since your data is soo good it can also tell us how many times a bag of crack is sold per week.

Just because you have seen something doesnt make it the norm. Passing in and out of a convenience store doesnt make you an expert about what goes on in one, nor does it give you more credibility over people you dont know, just because they get their facts from actual data.

I worked/managed a convenience store and we would have lost our license to accept ebt if caught trading it for cash or selling alcohol with it (not to mention the fines). The exposed violation that went on in a prior post doing so, was a misdemeanor or felony, depending on the amount involved. Still, knowing what I know, I get my facts from data, because that way I can relate my perspective to the truth and communicate more effectively and understand with more breadth and depth.

Its like telling people vanilla ice cream is healthy for you because I eat lots of vanilla ice cream, and I am healthy, therefore, without any reference to data, I can conclude that eating lots of vanilla ice cream is healthy for you. Anyone who disagrees with me is not worth listening to, because I know.

It is no different in Chicago, Los Angeles ( both of which I have spent a lot of time in ) or any other metro area. cities big and small.

And yes, you can use NYC at a barometer, for other cities.. it is done all the time.

Do you really think that the food stamp abuse I speak of is just in the NYC area... really Lol. When I have already stated I have witnessed it in Jersey City and Newark as well. Or it is just stores I happen to walk into. When others here have stated they know of it in their areas ( nowhere need NYC)

And do you really think these neighborhood stores don't know how to manipulated the system as well

I think most people have seen abuse of the welfare system. People aren't shy about it. I can only imagine how bad it really is vs what little I've seen.

It doesnt have to be imagined. people can research and read, but too often people dont want to know anything that contradicts their personal life experience.

I'm a landlord. I've had exposure to lots of people's incomes and situations. I know for a fact their is a lot of fraud. You can keep saying there isn't all you want. People voted a Republican in because they want a change.

do you rent with food stamps or tanf debit cards? what 'welfare' are you referring to. 'alot' is subjective based on overall use and percentage of fraud within it.

People voted a republican in because people largely vote for party over person. People voted Trump in because he gave fuel to their ignorance and someone at the top to support and validate their bigotry.

I take cash or a check. Being a landlord is like being a bartender. I hear everyone's problems. The last a tenant that mentioned welfare was her Medicaid got cut out because her child turned 16. I'm amazed that parents with kids old enough to stay home while they work, are given Medicaid. Welfare mom's are well taken care of. They were paying rent with social security from grandma/great grandma, child support. They paid regular for 3 years.
