I too have seen it countless times. It is done.. daily.. they then take the money and do other things with it. The money that was supposed to be feeding their kids is used for alcohol and / or drugs.
And the concept that the food stamps is to be used only for food.. is a joke .. to some
The corner stores in these areas are part of the problem too. I have seen people but beer, cigs, and everything in between on the SNAP card. the corner stores are part of the problem, they just key something else into the register.
interesting that those types of places would exist in communities with swimming pools and such ... I am nowhere near that level of financial success, and I have not been in such places myself in this community.
Lol.. nice try.., yes I do have a swimming pool and nice house in the suburbs, but I work in NYC, Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx and I grew up there (remember) I go into these type stores all the time to get waters, soda's whatever. so I do see it.. and have since I can remember.. ya see its been going on forever.
Maybe if they stopped screwing the system and work they too would have a nice house.. and pool ;)
And by your last post, maybe you should start visiting some of these places.. and see how these folks are paying.. see what is really going out out there. then you would know what you were talking about.
lol, Im sure you go in them ALL the time too ...
I know what Im talking about. I have had to rely on that system before. I have read up on the ACTUAL numbers, not just my little experiences in my corner of the country.
Actually, I do go into those places all the time because we build in these places.. all the time. Bronx, Brooklyn & Manhattan.. And again.. I grew up in that environment. And again, the abuse has been going on since the conception of food stamps.
Relying on spreadsheets or a pie chart from the web as your source of information as opposed to actually being there day in and day out is not the way it is done. But tell me, how does your " data" show people abusing the food stamp system, how does it show people selling the cards or using the cards ( in conjunction with rouge store owners) to purchase items such as liquor and cigarette. How does it capture these daily transactions. Who was there to document it?
And you relying on the system has somehow given you a front row seat to what is actually going on thru out the country? how did you pull that off?. What I see in my urban area is done in EVERY urban area.. and everywhere where there are people out to screw the system. Cities and towns.. big and small.
And maybe since your data is soo good it can also tell us how many times a bag of crack is sold per week.
you see my point.. your " data" can not possible capture the abuse of the food stamps... but lets see it anyway.
bronx brooklyn manhattan, thats three, now how many of the other thousands of cities in these USA have you shopped in and saw all this welfare abuse?
like I said, your neck of the woods is not necessarily the broader picture of the whole program throughout the country, which is why data is important to knowing about what you HAVE NOT seen, and not basing all of reality only on your personal experience where you live.
people find ways to abuse EVERY type of system, and crack is probably sold as often as cocaine, but on the topic of food stamps, the data show them to help mostly those in need, and no data shows gross abuse that would justify throwing out the baby with the bath water.
