and you can make it about the color of their skin all you want ... obviously, its not my site.
meanwhile, regarding Chicago
it is a cycle, places with the most CONCENTRATED poverty have the least hope and the most desperation and the most violent crime. And with that kind of crime the poverty continues, and with that continued poverty, the crime continues ... and so on and so on and so on.
I think the place to start is with the families of the youngest, getting them out of concentrated poverty before the next generation is initiated into that life, give those kids environments of hope and opportunity and let the rest age out with no new recruits to continue the cycle.
The families that ARE trying to work need help to MOVE up to a less hopeless environment, the children that ARE trying to do well (excelling in school and extracurriculars) need help to MOVE up to a less hopeless environment.
There needs to be a break not only to the cycle of continuous initiation of violence but to the cycle of hopelessness and 'disposable' life existence those young people are living merely for where they live (by society and criminals)
thanks for the chart, but I think we knew this already. Blacks are committing the crimes there.
And I do agree, the cycle has to be broken and that starts with the family.. it has to start there. And with the community working to rid the areas of the drug dealers.. even if that is family members. It has become their way of life, but it doesn't have to be.
Cops ask for information from the community when crimes are committed.. they get no help. At some point the communities has to take a stand. At some point personal responsibility has to be enforced.
Nobody.. no individual.. no corporation.. no business leaders are going to invest in those areas ( which will quicken to rebuild) until the crime is under control.
The people have to respect themselves before they can respect anyone else
Meanwhile, here it is with the weekend just beginning and already 7 shot and 3 killed. AND that is with a additional 1,400 cops in those areas for this weekend.

what does it take to stop them from killing each other?
yes we do know that, because blacks LIVE there, just like whites are committing embezzlement and fraud because WHITES are in the places that control money, not because of race or the parenting of a race of people.
You wont stop people from killing each other.
you wont stop people from trusting those who have lost their trust either
UNLESS
you work first on mending the relationship to gain BACK the trust through community programs and interacting that is more than just treating everyone suspect and disposable.
(poor police and citizen relations are not just out of thin air because people dont want to be able to trust, but they have LEARNED not to)
and If that is not going to change, the partnership is not going to happen any time soon.
you also work on educating and exposing the generations to come
educating them on paths out of poverty,
exposing them to examples of how that path has and does work for others LIKE THEM, and how others LIKE THEM who took those paths are willing to aid them on the path as well.
our perception is our reality, especially at young ages,
and a child that only sees option a or b all around them, is not gonna believe there are other options C-Z, FOR THEM, that will work.
these are all starts to changing the CYCLE that is born out of hopelessness, self and social depreciation, and desperation.
