Allegations That Clinton Campaign Funded Trump-Russia Research Still Pending At Now-Closed FEC
"A complaint that alleges Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee violated campaign finance law by steering money for opposition research through a law firm is still pending with the Federal Election Commission.
The FEC, which is not operating during the government shutdown, has yet to rule on the complaint made by Campaign Legal Center (CLC) that both organizations funneled the cash to Fusion GPS, the group behind a dossier compiled by Christopher Steele – the so-called "Steele dossier".

Despite Trump's denials, parts of Steele dossier prove true

I'm sure there are parts of this that will never see the light of day. But still, in the end, it shows how corrupt Trump and the people around him are.
This just shows how dumb this man is. He's not going to get 1.5 billion. So let's go ahead and ask for 8.6 billion and see if he can get that. I've never seen a president so determined to get into the taxpayer's pocketbook. Like it's his own personal piggy bank. Some more of that "communist" flavor.
Exclusive: In budget, Trump to ask Congress for $8.6 billion for border wall
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump on Monday will ask the U.S. Congress for an additional $8.6 billion to help pay for his promised wall on the U.S-Mexico border to combat illegal immigration and drug trafficking, officials familiar with his 2020 budget request told Reuters.

If you look at the latest polling on this wall funding. It shows that over 60% of Americans are against the funding. Trump's immigration proposals are also underwater including DACA. This is a losing issue for Republicans generally right now. The question will be how will the public feel about this in October and into 2020?
Pure politics. In his meeting with Pelosi and Schumer, Trump admitted he did not have the votes for funding his wall. Now, he comes back with an even larger request. So, what has changed? Nothing. His request will be denied and then he will claim that Democrats are in favor of "open borders" - clearly confusing a wall with a comprehensive overhaul of immigration policy and actual border security. His followers will, of course, believe everything he says (because Trump would NEVER lie - right?).
In March 2017 a report from Trump's own DHS showed that all 8 prototype walls were easily breached. At a cost of up to $70 billion and $150 million in yearly maintenance for something that can be easily breached? The report also stated there are areas along the border where building a wall is impossible.
