Heard this true news item a few years ago:

A husband asked his wife for a divorce. The wife, knowing how irresponsible he was, granted it on one condition--the new wife sign a legal agreement, agreeing to take legal responsibility for his child support if he was unable to. She agreed. Sure enough, within two years, he was behind on the payments. The ex-wife sued the new wife for child support and the judge agreed with her! "An agreement is an agreement," he said.

if it happened, it was foolish of her to agree.

True Story of Child Support Karma

Karma for whom?
These people are breeding.
The potential for like father like son, like mom like daughter, whatever.

In the first wife's infinite wisdom she said "this guy is so awesome, I'm going to make sure his DNA is passed on rather than any other guys."

Now in any acrimonious divorce proceeding, let's see, an attorney for the first wife, attorney for the father, an attorney for the second wife, an attorney for the kid, advocates, counselors, all sorts of fees, a lot of which will be paid by the state.

Now the rest of society has to suffer.

Is that the karma you are referring to? People keep making asinine mating choices, society lets it happen and promotes it, and now it has to suffer through these stories and taxes?

the new wife sign a legal agreement, agreeing to take legal responsibility for his child support if he was unable to. She agreed

That might allow the new wife to sue for custody of the kid, and ultimately get child support from both the first wife and husband and/or the state.

What new wife is dumb enough to sign responsibility paper for her Husbands children!.

Possibly one that comes to love the kids?
Or sees marriage as an actual marriage rather than a compartmentalization where they have their life, you have your life, and the demarcation is rigidly controlled and never intermingle, you just push your genitals together occasionally over the line you've drawn down the middle of the house to denote whose side is whom's?

the other thing with the story is that it is the father's responsibility. But as a legal matter, the wife and husband have community money, so there would be no real way to be having 'her' money pay child support as in totally foregoing the biological father's responsibility for the child they created. I love children, but I would not allow my husband to shirk responsibility for the life he creates onto me INSTEAD of taking his own responsibility. I would absolutely be a partner, of my own volition and not of legal force, in helping when and where I could. But I would not agree to take his place LEGALLY and completely in responsibility for the children that were there before I came.
