'Going barefoot is the gentlest way of walking and can symbolise a way of living, being authentic, vulnerable, sensitive to our surroundings. It’s the feeling of enjoying warm sand beneath our toes, or carefully making our way over sharp rocks in the darkness. It’s a way of living that has the lightest impact, removing the barrier between us and nature' Quote by Adele Coombs ''Barefoot Dreaming''. Now its not exactly ideal in the current climate here on the east of Scotland to kick off your shoes at any given time and bare your soles but I do agree with Ms Coombs opinion, even though the sight of uncovered toes can be met with sneers of ''tree hugger'' or sheer revulsion.

I wear flip flops all summer. I went barefoot as a child. Would love to live on the beach.

in the sand, yes.
in the woods, ouch, no.
on pointy rocks, ouch, no.
on a flight among coachmen, no.
first class, maybe.
the condition of bare footedness, yes.
asking my feet to commune with nature in pain, naw.

Yes the pointy rocks location was a little odd laugh

That would be the perfect location, a beach albeit one free of the general public and tourists.

Barefoot? No way. I have a lot of reasons. As a kid, I'd go barefoot in the summer but it was so hot running across the street to visit a friend. I have a lot of joint problems in my legs. I have a lot ankle problems, so I need support from shoes.

Ohhh hell no these tender feet of mine, very seldom go without shoes... lmao I will walk across sand or grass but anything beyond that I have some type of shoes on...whoa

Walking across smooth grass or sand now that is a feeling beyond freedom~~bigsmile

It depends on where I am and how cold it is outside. At the beach and in my own yard I love being barefooted. I usually go barefooted on a boat too.

Certainly sand or grass in the garden on a sun-kissed Sunday afternoon are two locales you know your feet will appreciate.

It definitely is all about weather and location not forgetting a certain level of privacy and comfort too smile2

I always climb trees barefoot so as not to damage the bark.

I am never shod..except if we go to town,
otherwise beach living is barefoot ;-)

If I could do the whole beach living thing that would be my idea of Heaven unfortunately in the concrete jungle of Edinburgh, its currently a pipe-dream :(

It is pretty sweet..but your feet get bigger when you
systematically do without shoes. Oh and any shoes you
wear to the beach become 'beach shoes' and are thereafter
good for absolutely nothing else.

Walking on the beach barefoot is one thing, but not great walking on the street.

Yes without a doubt, the sandy environment is pretty much the domain of shoeless and fancy-free but Wal-Mart and the local supermarket frown on that mode of unshod tootsies.

For me, I was born with joint problems, so I have to be really careful.

I wear sandles year round now that I'm back in Tx. It don't get as cold as Ky. and In. did. So, I'm loving it I don't go completely shoeless even in the beach. I'm afraid with my luck I would step on a piece of glass.

The risk of stepping on something undesirable or even dangerous is always a factor especially on the sand indifferent
