I dont believe the majority of citizens know what social democracy is, being that it could be said to be the definition of 'centrist' to begin with.
As far as party distinctions, and division in the country, I feel the labels are misleading, or at least are used to mislead.
What I mean is that I don't believe I can know simply by what party one is registered with, where they stand on the issues because they are STILL an individual. Each party platform has dozens of ISSUES and political stances on those issues, and I don't think someone registered democrat therefore agrees with EVERY issue on the democratic platform or NO issues on the republican platform. Likewise, I don think that someone registered republican must agree with EVERY issue on the republic platform or NO issues on the democratic platform. and then there is the fact that on many issues, the two platforms don't disagree in their stance.
So, I would prefer to talk about specific issues and what people in the country believe, rather than taking the broad brush approach of assuming where people wish to see the country 'go'.
For instance, when it comes to the budget. I would like to see it going to the safety and general welfare of the citizens. I would like more people to understand that jobs arent like fruit that one just goes out and picks off a tree, and so therefore, in an economy not set up to employ EVERYONE who needs support, there needs to be built into the structure support systems for those folks when they are struggling for their basic needs, ESPECIALLY those children and elderly who are the MOST helpless to just 'do it themself'.
I would also like more people to understand that we dont exist in a vacuum. There is a whole world, a whole globe that we must interact with for alliances, and to have a 'devil may care' attitude about what happens to those alliances or to other people in other places, will bring back the same karma upon us if and when we are ever one of those places needing help. Those alliances and how we treat others is important in defining what type of culture and reputation we want to maintain.
Those are just two issues and where I stand on them. But nowhere in those issues are constitutional rights threatened or the right of our citizens to become wealthy through their own private ownership and means, or for government to take those means of revenue for the private citizen away in ANY way.
While I agree with you on the party and the extent people align with the party. I strongly disagree with you on the rest of your statements. Jobs are plentiful, in fact we are experiencing a shortage of workers. The fact that some do not have the basic skills or are in a wrong location is a personal issue and it is their responsibility to deal with it. As for other countries in the world and our alliances with them, our goal should be to share equally with them. It is not for us to support them or they to support us but to find an equitable sharing between all parties. There also is the issue of difference in beliefs between countries and cultures. While we have a responsibility to respect their beliefs, it is not for them to expect us to adopt their beliefs or culture. We are not the EU and I hope we never are!!
