Very good point. Perhaps we're not quite ready to invade space just yet, but pushing to land on Mars may not be exactly about getting us on Mars, but what technology will come of it.

The problem I have with all this, has to do with the totality of it all.

This is one idea among dozens proposed by this President. There is little or no coordination between the ideas; even the good ones aren't linked by logical reasoning, to anything else.

Working to begin an effort to "terraform" another planet, when we can't even reach a suitable one, and especially while simultaneously pretending that the very real changes going on on THIS planet, are due to a secret Chinese political plot, rather completely deflates anything positive about this.

Normally, I would eagerly support advances and new goals for the American space program, because I know that the previous ones have contributed so much to us all.

Certainly, if we were to fund such an effort instead of paying billions for the Wall, I'd go for it.

This technology Pres.Trump and NASA maybe looking for can in my opinion to be very dangerous. We not ready or have the ability to use alien intelligent technologies. As humans we are way too war inbreeded to use that against nations at war or even on us citizens. Okay lets play gods advocate for a minute suppose we do terraform Mars or rhe Moon? Do scientist really think we can escape pending doom? Do rhe elites think under populating Earth and spreading out humans on distant planets is a good ideal? My opinion i think not. If you understand the history on other planets Nuclear cataclysms and Meteor storms cause life on those planets to wipe away. Now back to this technology i think we not intelligent or ready to use such tools. We playing God too much

Wr have cataclymic weather patterns, unknown bases and radiation to consider. Now if they want to terraform a planet scientist suggest.Nebula, Series B , & Alpha Century are the best canidates for life because those moons has oceans, vegetation, and a atmosphere. The problem is sending our shuttles to these vast planets is too far out in the galaxy to explore. I dont know if you ever read " The Secret Exchange Program " book? The short answer is there is no end to needs; fill one, then a second one crops up.

So also with want but there's a big difference

When one needs bread to survive - (of course); but he fights his way in life

When one wants to become rich; he will die happily trying

Unfortunately 'want' has received a bad label by those in need.

The unfortunate thing is most of us were swayed by 'needs' from early life. (and to my eternal regret)
