Since we exist in 3 dimensions, higher dimensions means 4 or more dimensions.
I have read speculation that there are 7 and even 11 dimensions possible but being locked in 3 dimensions those higher dimensions are unattainable because we can't actually experience them.
We can create computer models that show us higher dimensions but personally, we can't actually experience them.
Some will argue that time is a different dimension but it exists in the 3rd dimension so it can't be its own dimension.
A 1 dimensional object is a point.
A 2 dimensional object is the visual representation of length and width.
A painting is NOT a 2 dimensional object.
The paint and the canvas exists in the 3rd dimension.
The image is a 3 dimensional pattern of paint (or ink) on a 3 dimensional canvas (or paper).
A four-dimensional space or 4D space is a mathematical extension of the concept of three-dimensional or 3D space.
In nature, our 3 dimensional nature, we can't detect the 4th dimension.
We are ill-equipped.
To experience dimensions higher than 3 would require the ability to sense beyond our limits.
Imagination, soul, essence, dreams, hopes, desires, expectations are all manifestations of the 3d mind. None of them happen in a higher dimension.
People delude themselves into thinking their experiences are something more than what they are.
I suggest we embrace the reality and stop looking for some special significance for being what we actually are.
We are certainly complex.
Some of us are certainly special to others.
Trying to over-write reality on some grand scheme to make yourself more significant than you are is a delusion and a trait of narcissism.
Be content with who and what you are and stop trying to need some special significance to make you feel important.
I mean, each of us contribute something special to the existence equation.
Consider this...
The Universe is everywhere you look.
The Universe includes this planet, our star and you.
We are part of the Universe.
Since we are within the Universe, whatever we are is also part of the Universe.
Being part of the Universe, we are a manifestation of the awareness of the Universe trying to figure itself out.
The Universe is huge. Larger that you can fathom.
Some parts understand more than other parts but each part contributes to the over-all understanding.
Plus, that understanding is constantly changing as the Universe's individual parts experience new reality.
But, its more than that.
When you imagine, dream, fantasize its essentially the Universe imagining, dreaming and fantasizing.
When you realize this, it is easier to understand the role each and every one of us play in the grand reality that is existence.
