On New Year's day, at a rhino exhibit, at a Zoo in Florida. a toddler under 2yrs old fell in. She got through the 8 inches apart bars protecting viewers, from entering the exhibit. The child is very injured, now in the Hospital. sad2

Who doesn't watch a toddler closely at a Zoo!! shocked

Geezzz... Not even that, what is a child under 2 years doing out of a stroller? In a zoo at that?
Also, 8" is quite the gap? That's 20 cms... A baby bed must legally be between 4,5 - 6,5 cm, no wider, so a baby's / toddler's head doesn't fit through it.
I got out a ruler to see, 20 cms is ridiculous.

Local news here today showed a picture of the child, in the Hospital. It was so sad. She had major injuries. Anyway, the Zoo's management now say they are putting a netting around the exhibit so it will be impossible for this to happen again.

I hope that will be sufficient. Also hope it's not just the zoo that'll get chit for this, but the parents as well for neglect. I seriously don't understand you are thick enough to let a child of not even 2 walk around in a zoo.
Personally feel the zoo should be forced to replace all such fencing. A shame that it always takes a victim before things are improved.
Hope the little kiddie is going to be okay.
