I stopped eating meat in December 2017.

About ten years before that, reducing my meat consumption was a factor in losing some weight and improving my health.

For many years I had an increasing compulsion to go vegetarian. Watching a video of a pig being killed in a brutal way and seeing how it suffered sickened me and finalized my decision.

To those who are or have been vegetarian: What's your veggie tale?

Hell to the nah!

But, to each their merry own.

My veggie tale?

I like to eat a bunch of Brussels sprouts,
before long flights.

I go back & forth..

As someone who has hunted, and grown livestock for it's unltimate end...anyone who *does* eat meat should be completely aware of where it comes from..

I don't eat a lot of meat mainly because of the "factory" farms...it isn't healthy to raise them that way..
MY critters were raised out in the fresh air...on grass..walking around, not in some dark warehouse..

When my husband was alive, he hunted..we ate deer...and the chickens we had..occasionally lamb...

Right now I am primarily a lacto-ovo vegetarian..

I am not but I do not eat store bought meat or veggies. I hunt and have a garden that produces enough to can and or freeze . I have fruit trees and I have my chickens and goats.

Well thank goodness smoking on flights was banned! lit cigs and brussel sprout farts are likely more dangerous than a cabin full of Samsung devices. laugh

I've never hunted, but I used to fish. Killing and gutting fish gave me an appreciation for the reality that the hunk of flesh on my plate was once a living being.

Animals being raised with respect and dignity, and killed humanely is definitely preferable.

What veggies do you like to grow? Over the years I've grown tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, corn, okra, watermelons... I've had the best results with tomatoes and peppers. Those okra plants can grow over 10 feet high if ya let em!

That's awesome. The space that I can garden in is small. So I can only have a few plants and a few varieties.

I have a big area and I have a chicken run around it. They take care of the bugs and get exercise it's great.

Yeah, those type setups make so much sense and are better for the critters, and the environment. And I'll bet you've saved lots of scratch not having to pay for those expensive cluckin' yoga memberships. laugh

I don’t eat meat except fish I have struggled with it for a long time starting as a kid around 7 I would cry and tell my parents I didn’t want to eat animals since then I’ve gone back and forth during pregnancy and a few other times I had to eat meat because I was anemic but I’m pretty content eating everything else

Fortunately I haven't had any negative health impact. Initially I was concerned about protein deficiency, but eating more vegetable protein seems to be a sufficient replacement.

Well I'm no scientist... but technically I think that makes you an omnivore.
