I'm trying to be a good neighbor. I have lived here for a year and a half. I went out to meet them last summer when they were cutting trees. I wanted to meet and introduce me. It was good. I met a new neighbor today , next door. He was friendly. Any good ideas that people can help with.

Usually during the summer, people have babecues. Or you meet people by coincidence. Like shovelling snow at the same time. Much more informal stuff

I had a new neighbor a year go moved next door. He was older gentleman tried to give me a gift of fruit. I told him no thanks, I don't except gifts from Strangers. But thanked him. He rents the house. I had a great neighbor for 15 years before him.
.
He speaks but looks at my strange at times. Lol But I speak say hello.

I like to choose my friends, especially MEN.

No I really don't have any advice for meeting neighbors.

biggrin

Honestly as long as I have lived in my House I don't even know my neighbors around me.. I pretty much stay to myself...

I wave or say hi when I'm outside doing yard work at times but that is about it for me...

So can't really help on this one...

You could have a Knock Down Drag Out Rock n Roll Party in the Street.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQdWK041Vuo

When I was growing up in the 60's our family participated in neighborhood pot luck dinners where everyone in the neighborhood put tables near the street and put food on them. Then the whole neighborhood mingled, us kids played games and the grown ups did their grown up stuff. Usually right around fall when the gardens were harvested.

Then there were the Saturday nights in the dorm but we won't go there LOL.
Weekend river parties.

You could invest in a projector and project movies onto the side of your house with an invitation to a firepit movie for all the neighbors.

take them a small treat like apple crisp or brownies or something you make or bake and go to their door and say "Hi, I made these for you and I am so and so and I just wanted to introduce myself..."

In time you will get to know more neighbors.

My neighborhood is a bit different than some. Across the street is a cow ranch. Nobody lives there but the guy is there twice a day to look after the cows. I live on a corner street and the next corner is a tractor parts/repair shop. I have a house on the other side of me and behind me. I want to be on the good side with them. The house behind me uses the road easement by my house to get to the road.

I live very rural, and have zero interest, in getting
to know my neighbors..

I live on the side of the mountain. I can see half of the town I have beautiful views of the country on one side and a bit of the lake on the other. I know my neighbors. We talk in the drive way . We watch out for each other but don't live on each other's door steps but are there for each other when needed. We give each other things when we can.

Make friends with the tractor repair people, they will be able to fix anything, and will likely know most of the town. smile2

I've lived in this town for years, just moved into a different area. I don't want to be best pals with my neighbors, but good to know who we are and be friendly.

I wonder how many poms got on to this thread thinking it was about the Australian comedy show called Neighbours ? They love it and believe it.

Cat Your new neighbourhood may have a local market, festival, annual street party, or something where many locals gather. Swap meets, garage sales, fair, school / church fete, community garden, etc.

Cows are good, if you watch where you are walking.

That TV show is fiction. Reality is different. It's not about surfing and sunshine all the time, not even Down Under waving
