...or misleading, or commonly misapplied.

One that seems to come up a lot, is "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

In my direct experience and research, I have recognized that this is actually an act of letting people off the hook, and ascribing magic influence to "power."

I think the saying should be something closer to "Awarding someone power tends to REVEAL how corrupt or ignorant or incompetent to wield power that they already were.

Another is “Those who fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it.” I don't like that one, because history DOES NOT REPEAT.

I'm hoping to stimulate some thought on such things, because some very bad things have been done in the name of obeying such faulty "wisdom."

"Practice Makes Perfect"

All the practice in the world will not necessary make someone perfect at something. It may make them better but not perfect.

“The road to hell is paved with good intentions”, but “the love of money is the root of all evil.” It would occur to me those going to hell never had good intentions to begin with.

The Good guy always wins in the end.

If you work hard you will reap the rewards.

All is fair in love and war.

The early bird catches the worm.

Honesty is the best policy.

You name it, we are filled from birth with delusional concepts that are there only to inspire us but so often are taken as basic rules of life that turn out to be delusions after all.

The only thing that actually makes sense is that reality will always be reality and it doesn't give a damn whether you like it or not.
