Old Quebec City is a beautiful place to see . One of only two walled cites in North America . Do you know where the other one is ?

Any traveling tips for the Montreal/Quebec area?

Yes...based on my experience...
1 - if you are not driving, the public tarnsit sys is wonderful...buy an OPUS card (for a day or week, if possible)...it works seamlessly for both the subway and buses.
2 - Airbnb offers much less expensive accommodations
3 - Old Montreal especially vieux port (the old port) is where the Cirque du Soleil touring shows usually start...there may be one there now...but the port offers a St Lawrence river tour also...and a walk through old Montreal is worthwhile
4 - check out the fine arts museum for their latest offering
5 - the Botanical gardens is also a treat...and it is close to a subway station.
6 - be sure to pickup a map and the tourist guide when exiting YUL (Trudeau airport) if you are flying...it provides a good list of events...
7 - I speak almost no French and had no problem dining out and attending activities...but it also helps if you have a friend who can parlez vous
8 - Using a credit card with zero or very little transaction fees worked best for me...i also used my debit card at the atm available at the major banks to get cash..since they have one and two dollar coins, the weight of change can belong significant...wherever convenient, change those guys for paper money.

hope this helps...cheers

Very good job maybe of covering the stuff I didn't take time to write out before and you even added a couple of things I forgot about.

OP: you'll find the whole area very tourist friendly and accommodating.
