If you're getting a cat for the first time, it can be a challenge. Hopefully you have experience with animals. They have to get used to you.

I don't think it's fair not letting them go outside. As for exercise, pffft, okay they knack everything as kittens and still have the odd mad half hour when they've grown up, but exercise? My God the air would be blue if you mentioned it to them, hey Kitty, you need to exercise, f you, I just washed my paw

I don't understand that last statement, R2d2. Can you explain?

Knack means attack
When the air is blue, it's because somebody has been swearing a lot
A mad half hour, is just that, like when Kitty decides that some leaf has terribly offended him / her, thus he / she must knack it
F you, is of course swearing

I hope that clears it up, if not, please say which bit, you don't understand

Cats sleep in beds with people who they like.

You maybe woken up, by a kitten, that has decided to curl up into a ball, and fall asleep, on your face, whilst you were asleep

Cats love to sit by the window and look outside for hours.

They love a nice spot in the sun, or stretched along a radiator
Any jumper, box or open cupboard will prove to be simply irresistible to them
They're not mad on closed doors, they think all doors, should be left open, at all times
Some are quite territorial, whilst others couldn't care less
They like to hide, or at least try to hide
They may bring you back an unwanted gift, such as a bird, a fish, a mouse, or a frog
They will be terribly pleased with themselves if they do this
And love them, though I do, they can be quiet cruel to the mouse, and play with it for sometime, before despatching it. In fact, it may not be despatched when they decide to bring it into your house as a gift

Cats are really funny. My favorite cat, one time jumped up on top of bookcase to go to her favorite open window. She knocked off a glass vase filled with water and fresh flowers, and it shattered on the floor. I was in the room when it happened. She stopped to look at it for about 5 seconds, then she went about her business. I couldn't be angry because it was so funny.

I do not believe in declawing a cat. They cannot climb a tree or fight back if attacked.. BUT, I got a rescue cat from No Kill Shelter and they declaw and neuter all cats before adopting out. I am considering a halter to tak him out for a walk this summer, or just have him near while i enjoy late evening breeze. But then is he going to sprint for door constantly? ANYONE with Cat Experience with Harness, please advise.

Screw a harness
It goes against the very nature of being a cat
Cats are free spirits
To talk that away from them is inhumane

My experience says, if cats have the freedom, they deserve, they will always come back to you, and appreciate you

I have no experience with using a harness on a cat, so I can't give any advice. I happened to grow up in a family that always let our cats go out when they wanted, and came inside when they wanted. It was a good neighborhood. It is a good idea to have cats neutered or spayed.

I actually do have some advice for people who want to use a harness on a cat. If you live in a city or big town, and you want your cat to have an outdoor experience and stay safe, it might be a good idea.

I was never a cat person. My lady wanted one badly so we picked up a rescue. Now that she is gone, I have a cat.

That little druggy goes ape over catnip. Rolls in it, smells it, eats it. One good thing about it is I can teach him what is his, ie new scratch post, by putting catnip there and also using catnip spray. He gets the idea quick.
