Has anyone else tried it and observed any positive or negative long term affects?

It is said that it does not add years to life but does add life to years, due to certain antiaging properties. I took it for half a year a few years ago. I have noticed it makes me feel like my body is not being taxed from the stress of life and long term leads me to a state of strong self control, physically and mentally, in addition to a feeling of wellbeing. However, it seems to dampen the long term strength gains I would usually get from new exercise routines, and it makes me get more and more flakey, but that goes away after a while of stopping taking it. I would be interested to know if the negative effects could somehow cause some kind of permanent harm long term, and what exactly are those certain benefits from the anti-aging effects.

I just started taking it again.

Hello arfvedson.,

I considered taking it and after a lot of research decided not to .

I think with supplements there is a danger of too much of a good thing . Research tells us polyphenols and antioxidants are healthy but in excess both have the potential to cause cellular harm .,

Resveratrol is believed to help reduce heart disease . However it can affect platelet function and is contraindicated in those with any bleeding disorder or on blood thinning anticoagulants ., ....this means it should be stopped atleast two weeks before surgery . If it is an emergency surgery that is not always possible .

A lot of supplements are based on Japanese knotweed ... only a few use grape skins . It is questionable how much of the active polyphenols are available in supplements and how much is degraded and lost through the production process /shelf life . High quality supplements are very expensive .

Personally I think it is better to include grapes and blueberries in your diet and eat a wide variety of plant based foods that offer a variety of different polyphenols .

Will let you know if I find any new medical research papers on clinical trials . Good luck :-)

dark skinned fruits are the thing, black grapes the humble blackberry and black currents are the best source. blueberry's to a lesser degree.

Cool; thanks for the insight and the common sense.

To be more accurate, it is actually grapeseed powder, not refined resveratrol. Might be good occasionally with the benefits being 50 years later, but I doubt using large amounts of it every day would be overall beneficial in the long run for any otherwise healthy person. Thanks again for the thoughts.
