Regardless what some label them as~~~ If it was not for men willing, to dish out the cash so they can have some eye candy on their arm. Then you would not have what some prefer to as a "Gold Digger"
But hey if the guy wants to throw his money for some gorgeous model type then so be it~~~ It's his money...his life~~~
Can't always blame the women when the men are the ones willing to spend whatever to have them around~~
I also wonder if it's more of an American thing? I only ever hear Americans whinging about this.
Maybe the poverty in your country has to do with it. Might be similar in other poor countries.
When people can barely survive they naturally seek means to have a better life and food. Some become refugees, others may resort to finding it in a partner.
Another part I think has to do with men not being balanced in their masculine power and thus not doing what a man naturally does: provide and protect.
Not that long ago men's egos got upset when a woman wanted to work. They felt emasculated not being the alpha male (in their minds) and providing & protecting & caring for their families, and their woman becoming independent of them. It scared the Bejesus out of most. And they resisted and objected and fought to stop it.
Now they don't even
want to do that anymore. And then they whinge about women. They want a feminine energy woman while they aren't masculine energy men.
Big problem in society, which fortunately is being balanced out but it takes time.
