I don't even know what it is, other than it's some American creation of weird coffees that aren't really coffee.
I like coffee or cappuccino :) Both have to be good quality. You don't mess with coffee, nor make cheap chit. Blasphemy!

I think, Starbucks created that stuff. That's why I refuse to buy it. I only go to small, independent coffee shops.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cappuccino

A cappuccino is an espresso-based coffee drink that originated in Italy, and is traditionally prepared with steamed milk foam (microfoam).

Variations of the drink involve the use of cream instead of milk, and flavoring with cinnamon or chocolate powder.[1][2] It is typically smaller in volume than a caffè latte, with a thicker layer of microfoam.

The name comes from the Capuchin friars, referring to the colour of their habits,[3] and in this context referring to the colour of the beverage when milk is added in small portion to dark, brewed coffee (today mostly espresso). The physical appearance of a modern cappuccino with espresso créma and steamed milk is a result of a long evolution of the drink.

The Viennese bestowed the name "Kapuziner", possibly in the 18th century, on a version that included whipped cream and spices of unknown origin. The Italian cappuccino was unknown outside Italy until the 1930s, and seems to be born out of Viennese-style cafés in Trieste and other cities in the former Austria in the first decades of the 20th century. The drink has since spread worldwide and can be found at a number of establishments.

Aye. Cappucchino is great. But the OT said frappuchino. Some iced coffee, they sell in Starbucks. And they dony't always use coffee from Fair Trade suppliers.

I think in Holland I've only had a Starbucks' coffee 1x which was at Schiphol Airport. In 2013 we had 28 Starbucks, but they're located in the area with cities (Rotterdam, The Hague, Amsterdam, Utrecht).
And I had one again at Houston Airport in 2016. That's it :)

Haha, I suspect we will keep getting more and more. Personally I'd rather have a Mac closer to home, as in on this island, than a Starbucks.
Starbucks is not what we'd consider a nice place to sit and enjoy, it's made for fast consumption and you quickly FO again.
I think Germans are more like the Dutch in that sense? Seeking the gemütlich. There's chitloads of good places to sit and have a good cup of coffee. But a place like MacDonalds is different. I'd have to drive 34kms to the nearest, which I find too far, haha. Costs me about E15 in petrol to go back & forth. Expensive burger! I can get a burger close to home, but not a Mac. So that I would like closer. Starbucks I couldn't care less. I can get a good coffee within 5 mins walk, and no nearly so expensive.

So this is what it is, although NOT all of them actually have coffee in them.

So I guess it's more a mixture of an iced coffee and a milkshake

Frappé coffee is a Greek iced coffee drink made from instant coffee, water and sugar. Accidentally invented by a Nescafe representative named Dimitris Vakondios in 1957 in the city of Thessaloniki, ... Wikipedia
Main ingredient: Ice, Water, Sugar, Instant coffee
Place of origin: Greece
Serving temperature: Cold

India has a similar drink called "Madras coffee" served warm.

So Starbucks combined the words Cappuccino and Frappe' and came up with Frappuccino.
