There is that thing that some women do where they are wearing makeup, but it doesn't look like they wear makeup.

i am practicing with herbs and herbalism.

i am growing lemon balm and spearmint in containers and sometimes make infusions or decoctions for therapeutic purposes.

i am trying lemon leaf and spearmint topically specifically to help heal skin related ailment and surface wounds on pets, administered via spray bottle. i am using a fine mist setting in this case.

My grandmother and my mother were both very beautiful woman, both were artists at applying make-up that enhanced their best features while minimizing what they felt were not their best features, it was nearly impossible to tell they were wearing any make-up at all. I did not inherit their skill! I haven't worn make-up in ages, decades really, I never liked how it looked and it bothered my skin and eyes so out it went.

I have a dear friend who is in her 70's, she keeps her hair dyed a very dark brown and wears a lot of make-up. Both are way over the top for my taste BUT not for hers, she feels and looks confident and pretty so...each to their own.

By the way, my mom used to apply and/or touch up her make-up while driving, she also trimmed her hair while driving!! Not as dangerous as texting while driving but...noway

A woman who isn't overweight will look fine without any make-up on.

seamac, thanks for sharing. I don't think my mother wore much make up, so it was not a thing in my family.

catinidaho, judging from your pic you are a beautiful woman with an engaging, welcoming smile. Do what makes you feel your best, makeup or no makeup, I don't believe there is a correct answer, only that you do works best for you.

I am wondering if your post and all the replies have helped you to figure out what you wanted to know?

I read most of this thread and find it interesting that the option for men to wear makeup didn't come up??? Why don't men want to enhance their eyes and lips while minimizing their wrinkles etc? Just a thought...Why should females be the only sex to try to look better?

If you've ever done any work in TV (and on videos)...you'd know men most certaonly DO wear makeup to look better.

Yeah the men who work at Nordstrom's makeup counter (hey equal rights) wear makeup but then again......and at a place I worked at, a local newscaster used to come in in his stage makeup why he didn't wipe it all off before going out in public I don't know, maybe he liked wearing makeup . shocked

I see that I didn't make myself clear, sorry about that. I was referring to men on this site or in general not using makeup to enhance themselves. I spent enough time in theater to know that in certain careers men indeed do wear makeup. But how many 'regular' guys put on makeup for a dinner date?

I think it's a good idea for everyone to wear moisturizer on their face and neck, with SPF. People shouldn't wear makeup if they don't want to.

catinidaho, You are SO right, wearing SPF is so important, I have skin cancer from sun exposure - mostly job-related - so can say with certainty that protecting your skin from sun exposure is very important. But...

...I also know that many people (including me) who are reading and learning more about the questions revolving around how safe sunblocks are and if they also can cause cancer are hesitant to use it. If you opt not to use an SPF wear a hat with a wide brim and long sleeves, avoid the sun midday, use an umbrella...Be safe in the sun, save your skin!

I think men are attracted to eye shadow/liner and lip color, but don't want to admit it. I haven't worn any makeup at all in 1 1/2 years and no man looked at me.

As long as you don't look like Coco the clown, wear what you like or suits you. Even if you do look like you should be throwing bits of paper out of a bucket at people, all that means is that I might not like your look and would that be a devastating loss to you? Probably not :grinning:.

No makeup for me thanks! noway But Iโ€™ll use sunblock ๐Ÿงด by the gallons. . . ! bigsmile
