Does it really work? Are there people here who are serious enough to start something without being physically present?

I'm pretty sure it does, you've just got to be super diligent, assessing risks every step of the way and be prepared to lose any investments you make like time..

If you come across someone a little further afield than your local area I'd suggest finding out very early on if there is any actual realistic chance of you both meeting up before too long, before you make too much of an investment and develop any real feelings etc.. Ask yourself if you're willing to travel, if not ask them if they are.

Assuming the goal is to end up physically present with somebody, even if you don't start that way..

Alot to consider.
Maybe it's worth a try at the end of the day. However low the chances might be

Online dating...Does it really work?

Not really.
Online dating doesn't really provide any kind of service.
I mean it doesn't make you a better person, it doesn't really teach you anything.
Like you go to school and it can "work" to give you knowledge, or at least a degree which you can use for employment.
Online dating, dating sites, don't "give you" anything. They don't have control over women, they can't "give you" a woman if you just follow steps.
At best online dating/dating sites are like bars that can't serve food or drink.

It's all on you.

Whether or not online dating, or dating sites, "work" depends entirely on you.

So...do you "work?"
Could you find a partner/date/relationship/whatever you're looking for without dating sites/online dating?
If yes, then online dating can "work." But really, it's not online dating/dating sites doing anything.

Are there people here who are serious enough to start something without being physically present?

When relationships are absolutely dependent upon communication to develop, grow, and be meaningful, healthy, and successful, and with what comes out of the mouth (or through the fingers) being almost unnecessary (and can actually hinder, retard, or be detrimental) to meaningful communication, why would anyone want to "start something without being physically present?"

IMO nothing real starts until you are actually "physically present."

There is no such thing as "Online Dating".
Dating involves 'one on one' real-time interaction in person.
Anything else is not actually dating.

No. They know the odds of actually meeting the man they're talking to is slim to none. If they can hold up their end of messaging, they will continue talking until they're bored.

local women "make it seem like they are too afraid to get to know me" while out of State women tend to be a lot braver than that.

I agree. Very similar to "The Exciting Wilson Pickett" album cover (1966).

I disagree that there is no "Online Dating." One of my missed "Online Dates" forced me into an interaction with my distant date which flourished into a very substantial 18 year relationship (ongoing).

That's because the out of state women think there is little or no chance of you ever actually meeting, so they can afford to APPEAR braver.
