If that is indeed her reason, I say good riddance. You deserve someone that can appreciate you for who you are.
There are many lovely intelligent ladies on the forum. Keep posting & maybe your match will find you here :sunglasses:

If someone's accent was used as an excuse, the person in question is not worth a dime. JMO

Probably was an excuse and not a real reason.

I have yet to meet a person (men and women) who did not have preferences regarding who they chose to share their time with...American women in that respect are no different than European or women from any other part of the world.

I suggest you not generalize or resort to accusations but accept that as a reality of humans and their makeup.

good luck in your search...

I don't know about American women as I am Dutch, European. But I can sure as heck be either turn off or feel more attraction based on someone's accents. Some are too unpleasant. Which ones are unpleasant and which ones are attractive/sexy is very personal.

Not just the accent btw, also the voice itself. I once had a guy on the phone and knew the second I heard his voice I could not ever be with him. It was the most annoying high-pitched voice you can possibly imagine.

My ex on the other hand had a great voice. The second I heard it my knees buckled and my core melted. We hadn't met yet, the effect was amazing.
And that included his accent btw. Timbre, intonation, just everything.

So yes, it is important and yes, it can turn someone off.

I recon you should turn this to your advantage mate.
Take some elocution lessons, learn to e-noun-c-i-ate ev-e-ry sy-ll-able
dis-tin-c-t-ly and co-rr-ec-tly. and end up talking like Richard Burton.
That aught to do it.:)

Humm but but what if they talk and sound like Micky Mouse?? lmao..

Everyone has things that either turn them off or turn them on about another person...

Why would one think that only American Women would turn one down due to their voice.. all women/men have different preferences of what they like or don't like when looking for someone they are compatible with.

And yes I will even admit I have talked to guys that their voice alone was a big hell no as far as dating them... I'm not one that can deal with a guy that whines all the time.. or sounds like Mickey Mouse and have ran into both..

Does that make me shallow or not worth to date? To each their own... I'm just being honest.

What many don't seem to realize is we all have our limits of who we will date and what we will deal with.. I assure you if someone came up to you that had a voice that made you cringe every time you heard it..There is no way you would actually date them if it got on your nerves..

I'm sure many have by-passed dating someone due to many things that deals with appearance/character..If they are not into you regardless what it is there is always someone out there that would love those things about you..

We all have the right to choose what appeals to each of us... good luck on your search~~~

I have to admit there are accents that I find hard to take/ deal with...but, if they were great otherwise...I'd probably overlook it..or try to anyway...laugh

Get over it.

ONE lady passed on you because of your accent and you think American women might be turned off by accent? Did it occur to you that the lady just didn't like you because of other things about you and not just your accent?

oh don't mind me.. I'm not American.

btw what kind of accent do you have? I have Filipino accent.

Here is my Filipino accent

Record your voice here Vocaroo so we may hear your accent.

Why not? People are odd.

I am turned off by the patois of inner city US blacks. I understand that one. One I do not understand is a turn off from New York City Jamaicans. For a time I regularly interacted with some such folk. No matter how physically beautiful the gal, as soon is she spoke my arousal was gone. My best guess is some sort of bad event in the first two years of life in the presence of one.

Nice 1 MzRosie, I tried to do it, but plug in, is not supported:cry:
I have a Yorkshire English accent.
Sean Bean the actor is from Yorkshire, so I guess it would be a bit like his
It's a shame, we couldn't all do 1. We could each sing 1 line from a song, then somehow, string them all together, so we could hear the whole thing

oh that's too bad, R2. I would love to hear your Yorkshire English accent.

That would have been fun to get each sing l line from a song or their poetry. happy
