Rutger Hauer, brilliant Dutch actor who made movies in Hollywood as well, has past away last Friday

He first became really famous, abroad as well, with the movie "Soldaat van Oranje" (I guess Soldier of Orange), played beside Harrison Ford in "Blade Runner", was in "Nighthawk", "Blind Fury" (brilliant movie!!!) and whatnot.

May he rest in peace.
One of the first times I fell in love -as a VERY young girlie- was with him
He played a knight "Floris", which what got him famous to begin with.

I mostly remember him from the movies "Nighthawks" and "Ladyhawke". Good movies.

Oh yes, Ladyhawke was a good one as well!

Yeah he was good! Wasn't Nighthawk(s) the one where he was a terrorist/killer and Stallone was the detective after him?
I think I also remember a movie where he was blind, carried a staff and still kicked ***...

Yes. Stallone wanted him as he said he had this typical European thing Americans don't have. (almost verbatim like that, saw it in a clip yesterday). It's not European, it's almost like a primal Dutch thing he had. Not sure if he was a Frisian or not, but he sure as hell had the look and built of it.

And the last one is Blind Fury. One of my favorites by him. He's brilliant in it!
It's a Katana-like weapon, hidden in a staff.

I think Blind Fury was the first movie I ever saw him in (before I saw Blade Runner)

He also played a very convincing psycho in The Hitcher.

yes, although I didn't finish watching the last one.
But he had this natural way of being when acting which you don't often see in Dutch actors. The old school ones did too, but they were mostly theater actors and these are usually good.
And he had a very powerful aura.
I think my all time favorite with him is Blind Fury.

I'm guessing that he forgot about the advice Ice T gave him in Surviving the Game. "Remember to ALWAYS check the barrel!"

His villain in Blade Runner is so epic. That "Tears in Rain" speech before he dies made him a legend.

He was a good actor for sure! I think that scene is one that is most remembered by people.

It is because it was so different for that time (1982). He saves Harrison Ford's character and delivers that speech, knowing he will die.

Blind Fury is a great film too, and I also liked this little seen film called Split Second.

I only know him from Bladerunner.
That first movie was a Classic !
The 2nd one, in my opinion, not so much.

I agree that his final scene Tears in the Rain was Epic, and Legendary.

As a young woman, it burned into my Soul. He was perfect for the part and did a Superb job!

A much underrated actor. He made up his final speech in Blade Runner and the director wisely let him do it.

Played the villain very well, enjoyed his movies.

He was really a good actor, one of the few Dutch ones that managed to get somewhere in Hollywood.
Another one tried, Jeroen Krabbé, I believe played mostly Russian or German bad guys cos of his horrible accent, haha. He was in The Fugitive as well, being Harrison Ford's friend who turned out to be the culprit.
His English is horrible whereas Rutger's was not bad.
