Rio de Janeiro during New Year's Eve and during Carnival...The dance, the music, and the vibrancy of the people is incredible and addictive...Been at least 4 times and would go again...And the food...great!
Australia is my second choice...the friendliness of the Aussies just blows me away...love Perth and Canberra...Sydney is my third choice...learned how to drive on the wrong side of the road...and yes, i would definitely go again...
Yes, that's why I loved Australians as well :) They haven't lost their innate European roots and touch. It's like being home only the landscape, weather, and language are different. Oh, and as you mentioned, they drive on the wrong side of the road, haha.
I hope to go back as well one day :)
Funny story about the Aussies and my first time in a bar...i ordered a Foster's...the whole bar said "Jesus Christ - Oh hell NO!"...they refused to give it to me and instead paid for my local beer the rest of the evening...
I did win good money at the casino in Perth...playing "2 UP"...
also if they still have the Manley Beach Jazz Festival and you like that kind of music, you will not be disappointed if the opportunity is there for you...
ok...throat's dry...time for a Powers Bitter...hahaha
Hihi, I think that's what mostly the English drank??
I had my own weird/funny experience on my first day in Australia, Darwin. We went to have dinner, also had fries with our meal. Now there was no mayonnaise. Since we're Dutch we need mayonnaise with our fries otherwise it's not edible.
SO my mom and I went to this waiter and asked for mayonnaise.
The young man blushed as if I'd made an indecent proposal, he got red as a tomato!
I didn't get it, neither did my mom. I asked again, but the guy remained awkward.
So we just left it at that.
Later on I had fries in Alice Springs, but then I asked my roommate to get me some mayonnaise. I didn't want a similar awkward experience, haha.
She got it, but a teaspoon full. Fat lot of good that's going to do!
I still don't know why this guy got all weird.
