Can you tell me what the difference is between a "federal "crime and other crimes? Was announced on the news that it's coming back.

so pinning a felony on someone, gives the state the right to confiscate his estate and then hang, electrocute, poison or otherwise deprive him of life.

I mean there's a lot of multi billionaire crooks out there that could suddenly find themselves fair game if the death penalty goes through.

There always was federal crimes. Air hijacking, carjacking, kidnapping, wiretapping, mail fraud, even someone destroying your mailbox is a federal crime. Most become federal crimes when more than one state is involved.(If memory serves me) All are based on the degree of severity of the crime.

Bernie Madoff is a pretty good example of that. His Ponzi scheme cost people millions. His were federal crimes, and the feds landed on him hard. The government seized every nickle that was Madoff's, including what his kids had. (because Bernie gave it to them)

The only federal crime I know of, that would cause you to be killed off, if you did not kill someone else, is treason. Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were executed for spying on the USA, for the Soviet Union.

Look it up. It's all based on what they did.

There has been the usual amount of incompetent reporting about this.

Perhaps eager to come up with tantalizing headlines, we get reports that imply that the death penalty has actually been against the law, and is being reinstated; but that is entirely false.

The reason why federal executions had been halted, was due problems with the drugs being used to perform them; NOT to any particular opposition to executions as a punishment, on the part of the government.

These reports SHOULD state that EXECUTIONS are being resumed.

Not that the Death Penalty has been reinstated.

Nor, does "felony" automatically mean it's a
death penalty case.

Murder, can warrant the death penalty.

Armed robbery, generally only warrants
prison time.
