A mini-series of 4 longer episodes on the so called "Central Park Five".
I watched the whole lot last night and it's well worth watching.
But it's also quite upsetting to see how these kids were dealt with and how they suffered only because the police wasn't doing their job and needed someone to blame for raping a white woman.
It's a miracle all of them survived and how they made something of their lives after they'd served their time.

Also how you get treated after that btw... Not allowed to be outdoors between 9 and 7, for the rest of your life??
One of them was told, "If that interferes with a job, find another one."
Right. As if you can easily get a job to begin with let alone find another one!
No 'certified jobs'. Meaning your doomed to be a cleaner or burger flipper? How are you supposed to provide for a family that way with your insanely low wages?

Then Donald Trump posting a huge ad in the paper, putting a bounty on their heads and asking for the death penalty?
Say what?!?! And this moron is now president? He even had the audacity to mention it again in 2016 when campaigning? How the hell could you vote this man into office?

I know that you have this system so everyone can see where ex-criminals now reside. Disgusting! I hope we never get that.
Those people have done their time and deserve a fair chance at life after that.
What you do is shun them, harass them, avoid them, rob them of an opportunity to live a normal life, which is what many are capable of but they're not given the chance. No wonder so many go back to a criminal life. What else can they do?

Then for the white woman who was attacked -and has written a book on it, making money of it. What sane woman in their right mind goes jogging in the dark in Central Park? slaphead

Now I knew all that already, but this series is so touching, so intense, it does move you.
I hope you don't vote your president back into office again as that man is bound to keep this ridiculous system intact. I hope you choose someone who can bring Light into America.

I know this is part political, but that's also part of the series. And seeing this story of these five men unfold is unbelievable. I cried...

Watched that, very moving, though I read about the case, so much injustice in the world, there are several cases similar here.. The Guildford Four being one, a film was made about it "In the Name of the Father" very sad also.

Yes, a lot of injustice still, unfortunately. I may watch that movie.
But shocking to see you can end up in prison for a long time even when they have nothing on you.
People over here often cry out for a stronger justice system, but if this is the alternative...

Come to think of it, I don't think over here so much hinges on politics and thus popularity with the public. Don't know how this is in the UK?
But in the US it's all about that. As soon as elections come up they gotta be popular and win the public over to vote for them so they do whatever -right or wrong- to be elected again.
That system should be done with. Not talking about the president, but mayors, DAs and so on.

As for the UK police... I never understood how they can work without fire arms and not get in chit? Not certain if that would work so well over here. Although hardly ever fires a gun, they get in deep chit when they do. I remember in the 90s the police had to enter the house of some effed up idiot. That man was about to shoot the police officer, so he fired. The man died I think. The police officer and his family were then threatened by friends & family of that criminal and had to move to another place for survival. Now that is the other side of the coin of people not respecting police...

Cuts in the police and knife crime are high on the agenda in the UK, here in the North of Ireland things are different though...
