3 simple solutions:
1. go to your browser setting, block javascript for this domain. Anti"Adblock" based on javascript which detect Adblock javascript.
If you have popup ads, go to browser setting and block all popups. Google it for your browser.
2. install different ad blocker {google it)
3. be respectful to site owners - they have to earn money somehow - for majority of users site is free, but hosting server, development, updates, maintenance, domain yearly registration etc. are not free - so just visually ignore ads and let them rotate and generate money that because most of us do not pay for free service.
To be honest I don't give a toss. I ran a forum for 6 years WITHOUT ads and without sponsors. Well, my 2nd forum did actually, one ad underneath the header. But if you used AdBlock it was gone and you didn't get a popup to hinder you.
I'm on other fora that do NOT have ads either.
It doesn't have to cost all that much, not even having a domain name.
And at the very least they could be more selective about the type of ads they allow. I do not fancy seeing ads for sex date sites with half naked women.
And like others say, ads that cover half a page, that is stupid!
In general I do not use sites that force me to switch off AdBlock. F*(k 'em. I'll just find another one that doesn't whinge.
