The original Survivors series from 1975 is the most profound one on the subject. I'm watching it again. When I first watched it with my ex we had many conversations about what it takes to survive, what is first priority to collect and do? Where do you go?
It's such an enormous thing if it was to happen to us. No more soap, which is quite important. No more medicine so no antibiotics, no diabetic medication or for any other illness. Many will just die, not from the initial virus/problem, but those things.
No more petrol, running water, sewage. Dead people everywhere, rotting away. Animals going wild and cities becoming inhabitable because of it, which is a chit as that's where most good stuff will be stored still.
Relearning how to grow crops, breed animals. And how to make candles so you got a bit of light. Some will get dangerous and/or form groups that prey on others. You'll need fabric for clothing... And so on.

As a modern species we have become really quite powerless and dependent.

The series shows all this really well. There's a remake but that isn't nearly as good.

Sounds like an interesting show.

Seems it'd be time, to hone one's
apothecary knowledge and skills.

I have seen the original series crystal and at the time it definitely made an impression on me and highlighted our vulnerability .. especially with global travel and biological germ warfare . Although we are still vulnerable to a variety of near extinction events our knowledge and technology have improved . I read recently there is already a network of global survival shelters for the elite and those who can afford membership ... from memory one was in South Dakota . These were not your typical survival shelter they were luxury underground shelters !!!'
As with life ..some will be advantaged when it comes to surviving .

I'm sure they have shelters for the rich and famous and a select number of people who are needed to rebuild a society like scientists, doctors etc.

But in a situation like Survivors, there's always a small number of people who are immune or recover.
I always say I want to be with Ray Mears in a survival situation, haha. He knows his bushtucker, can build a shelter, hunt, build a fire under any circumstance and probably knows bush medicine too.

It is interesting for sure! If you want to watch it, I found it here: http://hdonlines.net/

I think I'd try to get as much medication out of a pharmacy as I could.
