It seems obvious that the fundamental danger with facial recognition software (apart from the creepy, totalitarian thinking behind it) is, that it doesn't actually work and probably never will but that fact almost certainly will not deter governments from using it.

I'm not entirely certain, that is true
I think the fact it's used, surreptitiously, and that it has a bias, I believe is deliberate, is wrong
Facial recognition was devised and first used, quite successfully, by casinos I believe

True, it has been used successfully by casinos but the difference between that and mass surveillance is that casinos have relatively few cheating individuals to recognise. Regardless, I think that we can both agree that the potential for injustice is vast.

Based on that video the only danger that seems to be brought up is that the facial recognition software is only designed by white men and is only really accurate targeting white men.

That the use/existence of the software isn't really the problem, it's that it's not accurate enough when targeting "people of color" or "alternate gender expressions."

The problem doesn't seem to be a computer telling the police whom to assault, but that the computer needs to be more accurate in regards to minorities when targeting them.


That doesn't mean she's a constant 24/7 hour a day nutjob.
People say mass shooters are nut jobs.
But they still live decades without shooting up places.
Just because in this instance she didn't publish a manifesto saying we need to make massive change and just let police live in our homes and watch our every moves and we should wear corks in our butts to reduce green house flatulence doesn't mean she's not still moronic or a nutjob.
