Political parties can make their own rules, and even change them at their political conventions. What happened in 2012 at Republican National Convention
- The RNC moved the goalpost to deny Ron Paul the chance of being Nominated by changing the required rules, and other shenanigans to coronate Romney.
It's also why the Democrats ended up with so called SuperDelegates who in reality represent the corporate sponsors. In the last convention they denied a chance to
Bernie, to give the coronation to Hillary.
Political parties are corrupt on both sides of the isle at the National and State levels. They're somewhat insulated from voters, but not if a candidate has overwhelming support from voters.
