Yesterday figured I might as well give Downton Abbey a go since people were raving about it.
But I got bored when only 12 mins in. Plus... seeing Rose Leslie... uugggh.
She was bearable in The last Witch Hunter but generally speaking I switch off when I see her.
Is it me or is there indeed a gap in good younger male actors to take the place of the old ones, like Bruce Willis, Harrison Ford, Denzel Washington, Sylvester Stallone, Daniel Craig, Gerard Butler etc. etc.? Even Keanu Reeves is pushing 60!
All the current ones are getting quite old. They're all in their 50s or 60s and some even in their 70s or 80s.
Yet, they keep making new movies of their own respective sequels like Indiana Jones, Equaliser, John Wick, etc.
Some of the ones I mentioned still have a few miles in them, but let's be honest... Gerard Butler is still great but you can tell he's not a spring chicken anymore. You only got to watch Angel Has Fallen to see that he's actually getting too old for such roles.
And this goes for all these guys.
But then... which good male actors can step in their shoes to take over with great action movies?
There simply don't seem to be any, which I suppose is why the old ones are doing more movies in their respective sequels.
In no particular order...
Ezra Miller
Dave Bautista
Dwayne Johnson
Chris Pratt
Jake Gyllenhaal
Chris Pine
Zachary Levi
Tom Hiddleston
Chris Hemsworth
Idris Elba
Michael B. Jordan
Shia LaBeouf
Thomas Brodie-Sangster
Andrew Garfield
Bill SkarsgΓ₯rd
Anthony Mackie
Liam Hemsworth
Tom Holland
Chris Pratt
Chris Evans
Chiwetel Ejiofor
Hailey Berry, J Lo, Hailey Berry again for good measure!

Chris Pratt certainly is a very good one, although he's early 40s already too.
Same for Chris Pine.
Jake Gyllenhaal... I actually thought he was around 50 too, yet he isn't. But too be honest, he always seems more like a B movie actor at best.
Idris Elba, Dwayne Johnson, both 50...
Dave Bautista 54...
Bill SkarsgΓ₯rd is young, but doesn't have the looks -nor likely the physique- for any good action. His face is scary, creepy movies would be good for him, hihi.
The others I don't even know...
The only one from this lot that is still reasonably young -as in quite some yrs from hitting 50- and who's incredibly good is Chris Pratt.

The Rock. I swear he plays the exact same person Aka himself in all of his roles. There's no versatility to him whatsoever, which is want I like to see in an actor. I seriously can't stand him, he just bugs me and He's very overated. I don't believe he is as great as people claims he is.

Agreed. He was a great WWE star, but not a movie star.

Probably has something to do with the drop in testosterone in males beginning with the millennials. I know guys in their 20's and 30's admitting to already using/needing Viagra (youtube comments, etc).

Big fan of action stars Scott Adkins and Michael Jai White, also Gina Carano. All top notch martial artists and fantastic action.
Scott Adkins, Michael Jai White, Gina Carano, Aaron Eckhart, Charles Bronson, Denzel Washington, Jason Statham, John Cena, Michelle Rodriguez, Nick Cage, Gerard Butler, Wesley Snipes, Mark Wahlberg, Jessica Biel, Tony Jaa, Russell Crowe, Robert Duvall, Mickey Rourke, Mel Gibson, Tommy Lee Jones, Gene Hackman, Jodie Foster, Julia Roberts, Charlize Theron, Benicio Del Toro, Sandra Bullock, Reese Witherspoon, Halle Berry, Drew Barrymore, Jessica Alba, Tom Berenger, Sean Bean, Jamie Lee Curtis, Gary Daniels, Cameron Diaz, Tom Hardy, Vinnie Jones, Jennifer Lawrence, Bruce Lee, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Michael Madsen, Lee Marvin, Steve McQueen, Johnny Messner, Chuck Norris, Cynthia Rothrock, Kurt Russell, Steven Seagal, Tom Sizemore, Danny Trejo, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Paul Walker, John Wayne, Raquel Welch, Sophia Lauren, Bruce Willis, Liam Neeson, Peter O'Toole, Sean Connery, Christopher Walken, Daryl Hannah, Sharon Stone, Nicole Kidman, Eva Longoria, Matt Damon, Clint Eastwood, Milla Jovovich, and more!
One fav action actor is Olivier Gruner. Former French naval marine commando and pro champion kickboxer made his debut in the cult classic "Angel Town". Over 40 films including "Mercenary" with John Ritter, "Sector 4:Extraction", the "Circuit" series, and so many more.
Film directing, producing, screenwriting, television, bodyguarding, personal trainer, helicopter pilot and fashion designer. Olivier Gruner's demeanor as a gentleman belies his intensity as an amazing actor.
Tom Hanks always seems like a good person.
Gerard Butler... I like most of his movies. He has a powerful & attractive aura, probably cos he's a Scorpio. I love it even more if you can hear his Scottish accent.
It narks me that Hollywood demands Scottish (or English) people to speak American.
Aaron Douglas, came across him in a movie last night. I seriously dislike the man. I've only seen him twice, in the movie and in series Flashpoint, seems he always plays a near-psychotic a-hole.
I liked Audrey Hepburn, Vin Diesel, Sophia Loren, the guy from north by northwest and rear window...
Also like the guy in the star wars movie, but feel he played his role better in Attack The Block...
There's several more I like such as Jet Li but the names skip me for now, my memory has got bad sectors in it
Is there a person who doesn't like Michael J. Fox?
I don't like David Spade as an actor, but he is funny on talk shows.
Mark Rylance
Gary Oldman
Tom Hardy
Joaquin Phoenix
