I liked sleeping on one because it was so warm. I slept great on that bed.

That was my thinking when I got one, but I generate way too much heat. It was like being in a sauna every night, lol.

Do people even buy waterbeds anymore? I didn't like the whole moving around of it. If I had to get up during the night, I'd move really slow so I wouldn't disturb my partner, and it was too tall. It was hard for me to get in and out.

I had the "slow motion" water bed. best sleep to this day that I have had in years.

Memory foam gets rock hard when it gets cold... had one of those too.

My low profile expedition mattress is pretty nice though...

Cat, if I were your partner, I'd make sure that you could get in and out of bed. bigsmile

I slept on a waterbed and I did not like it. Like Cat said, too much movement for me.

I wonder do you need any extra insurance or would a company refuse to pay out in the event of a leak??????

Erm, Never had a waterbed leak?
Besides, most waterbeds come with a liner.
A liner designed for the capacity of the bed.
Sure, you do get water fro time to time as you purge the air bubbles or all anti-foaming additives.
That amount is insignificant to the volume of the bed.

My biggest issue with a waterbed is the odors in the liner-bed surfaces.
I am very sensitive to allergens.

In all my years having a waterbed, I have never experiences a leak or a saturation on the floor. Even during the moving/relocation.

I am pretty happy with my memory (space foam) bed.
I also miss my waterbeds.
They offer a unique sleeping experience.
Personally, I liked the full-flotation ones because of the movement.
I also slept like a baby while on a ship in the Navy.
The LST ships are flat-bottom and wave action is amazing.

Everything is different when dealing with a waterbed.
From the style of sheets to the placement of the heater.
Even the Rails (people who have owned a waterbed understand) require getting used to.

The chambered beds are just as sturdy as a conventional bed but offer the waterbed sink.
Some airbeds also offer chambered support and you can even set different firmness per side, head or feet.

The reason for this thread is to determine who still sleeps on a waterbed.
I find they are not as available as they once were. At least in my neck of the woods.
Waterbeds now need to be special ordered.
When I was using them, they seemed to be everywhere.

Plus, there are not many mattress dealers offering conventional frame/box spring/ mattress set-ups.
Most are mattress/ platform with a topper mattress.
I find it interesting how marketing changed over time.
Is this a trend or a motive designed to change personal sleep habits?

Is "Big Brother" trying to convince the public to prefer a certain sleep pattern?
A disturbing thought pattern.
What else is "Big Brother" convincing us to choose?
My current bed is homemade.
I prefer it because I get the best sleep from it.
Retailers tried to get me to buy the push, I declined.
Too scary to think about.

I've had a waterbed most of my adult life and love it. Anytime I have to sleep in a conventional bed I sleep terribly and usually wake up with a backache so I'll be keeping my waterbed.
