I was on a different site last year or so and was talking with a lady through letter writing. The subject of a house came up when she asked me, "What kind of house would you like to have if you could have any?" I told her, "Just an old 50s style house". "Isn't that a bit small?", she inquired. I replied, "Well, the basement would be like a shopping mall. Each store would be a room. Bookstore would be a library , Video Store would be a room library for movies, Theater would be a tv room and so on" Of cause this is paraphrasing the sections of those 4 letters.

So, for those on the feminine side. What type of house would you like to make a home?

Those on the masculine side. What kind of house would you want to live in?

I would seriously like a castle, with a moat, alligators in the moat and a drawbridge. It has to have rose gardens out back and a maze.
Then I could finally do some serious art.
I honestly am not kidding.

Oh, I know exactly what it looks like! Visualising this was part of a course I did and I still hold the vision.
A cottage type house, I'd love a thatched roof but too impractical, so roof tiles it is.
Large living room with a fireplace, my spacious office connects to it with a large archway. I hate to be separated when working. It does have beautiful wooden doors to close it if need be, but they're generally open.
Double doors from the living room that lead to the garden. Cute pathways, a bridge over a stream, a pond. Not too large a garden but large enough to enjoy. Loads of plants, bamboo, roses and so on.
The house has lots of large windows. I need light as I'm very sensitive to having enough or not.

A rustic style cottage with a stream or large creek at the edge of the property, in a wooded area with neighbors being no closer than a half mile distance away. I'd want larger windows than the typical rustic home to let more light in and so I can see the wildlife roaming around the yard in the morning.

I want one with rocket launchers mounted
on the converted scalding platform
And a jolly roger flag, flown boldly from the
steeple.

And, a trebuchet, to launch cars at people
for tarrying in front of my property.

The house itself wouldn't have to be large. Detached with three or four bedrooms for guests but I'd like a library/study. A reasonably large walled garden where I could grow roses etc and probably my own veg.

I would like to live in a ranch style home with a couple acres and a fenced in yard for my dogs to play in. I would be a happy gal.

Ladywind7,

My grandparents lived in a castle. It had 3 stories of apartments and a Widow's Peak. First floor had a kitchen 30 x 25 with a harth 10 x 8 so you could cook animals on a spit. The place was only a small castle but I wouldn't want to clean it. Wiping the 15 foot high ceiling would mess with my vertigo. :sunglasses:

Some time ago I was thinking about building asimilar castle and landscaping project as you mentioned. Got up to 10 mil as a cost before i stopped thing about it. Lots of money to build and maintain that. :sunglasses: Being a person who had a good chunk of money coming in would be nice for a place like that.

I have had 15 houses in my lifetime (that I owned.)
I had the mansion towards the end.
It was SO big, we forgot we had a room with a fireplace,
round windows and a 13' bar..seriously.
Hideous to clean all those wood floors.

I am in the smallest cottage I have ever had right
now, 484 sq.ft, throw in some animals to make it cozy ;-)

Perspective: Je t'dore the small place, HATED the
big ones..lesson learned ;-)

wow Soufie. 15 houses :)

I wouldn't want a big one either.
sticking to the suject. I wouldnt mind a luxury ocean cruiser.
If that counts.
Failing that An old victorian farm cottage with 4-5 acres. woods and pasture.
Keep some shire horses.

I'd have to have a one story house that is small, which I have. I've always wanted a book room to keep all my books and a comfy chair to read. I have to have really good windows that are big and can open easily. I always wanted to have a big front porch.

It was California in the 70-80-90's, you maxed out on what
you could afford, then traded up as prices rose.

Small house, big acreage, now that would be a dream CC ;-)

Visited them once a week and on holidays.

The place was sold and everything was split between my mom and two uncles.

No, I only have royal blood in my veins and not the fortune. The kingdoms are long gone hundreds of years ago too. That's if you were going to ask.
