Black tea is high in a toxin called oxalic acid. Bitter tea steeped until cool to drink is very high in oxalic acid. If someone drinks too much tea like that, every day, the oxalic acid can react with calcium in the body to form crystals of insoluble calcium oxalate all throughout the body, causing partial or complete kidney failure, arthritis, autism, and other compromised function of the body. Small crystals can be broken back down, but it is a slow process.

There is a way to prevent that though. If you take 0.5 gram of calcium carbonate, squeeze lime juice over it in a shot glass, let it fizz mostly, then pour the milky & limey tasting remains into the bitter tea while still hot and let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes, the calcium citrate will react with the oxalate, precipitate the calcium oxalate crystals, and make the tea low oxalic acid with inert particles floating around in it. Then even if it is not completely reacted the crystals are less likely to form inside the body and it is safe to drink.

Couldn't you just steep it for less time...?

The title of this topic makes an unproven claim.

The first post in this topic cites no sources linking tea to autism.

Quite right DD I have studied somewhat all about Autism. and the causes are still largly unknown.

This oxalic acid Is all over the place, I had a kidney stone a couple of years back and was given a list what foods to avoid , the list is endless and things I thought good for you are not so, Popeye would have died young

spinach and some other plant foods including rhubarb. (Levels are so high in rhubarb leaves that we don't eat them — they're poisonous.)
Rhubarb
Almonds and cashews
Miso soup
Grits
Baked potatoes with skin
Beets
Cocoa powder
Okra
Bran cereals and shredded wheat cereals
French fries
Raspberries
Stevia sweeteners
Sweet potatoes
Beans.
Beer.
Beets.
Berries.
Chocolate.
Coffee.
Cranberries.
Dark green vegetables, such as spinach.
Nuts.
Oranges.
Rhubarb.
Soda (cola).
Soy beans.
Soy milk.
Spinach.
Sweet potatoes.
Tea (black).
Tofu.
Wheat bran.
The list goes on and on with almost everything you can think

Freebird Deluxe:....Dark green vegetables

I'm not a nutrition expert, but how about consume some of them moderately or in small amount? I know that nuts have some anti-nutrients that's why some nutritionists suggest that we soak them first before we prepare for consumption. Excessive consumption won't help the body to receive nutrients from other foods. Also, if they are GMO foods then it's really bad... even if they're actually foods that are good for us that's supposed to help nourish our body. I've heard about oxalate before but can't find the vids from where I watched it.

Actually, I'm just shocked to see dark leafy greens in the list. Although I can somehow understand too if other people's body don't react well to some of them... each person's body is different. The only things I'm happy or ok not to consume in the list are: cereals, french fries, beer, coffee, soda, GMO soybeans and soymilk and tofu.

About the topic, I also haven't heard of the relation of incorrect brewing tea and autism. GMO foods and autism, yes, in one of these vids:

YouTube videos are used to allegedly "prove" all sorts of things that are false.

Seriously, there is no scientific evidence linking the cause of autism to tea or GMO foods or anything that a person might receive after birth.

^ Yeah, most sites only mention researches and studies. I only meant to say that I have heard about the link between autism and GMO :)

I'm sorry, I think the links don't even work; can no longer fix them. I quickly checked each of them out and can't find the part I'm looking for although I'm sure it's from one of those vids where I found it. Maybe I looked up another site from one of the vids, can't remember, it's been years; but the vid is about the increased risk of autism consuming GMO foods.

How about Green tea and Herbal teas? I have heard that info too. Hence why I only make very steeped tea for the elves who make my shoes every evening.

I think that Ireland might be devastated then. Their habit is to leave a pot of tea slowly boiling on the stove. Well, at least that's the case with my relatives.

If black tea caused autism or any other dramatic malady, the entire planet would be packed with autistic people.

If nothing else, the entire history of the British Empire (largest Empire ever on this planet) would have been a story of the conquest of Autism over the majority of the Earth.

Not to mention, that "treatment" would make tea undrinkable.
Yuk.

Are we anywhere near April?

Studies taken as a whole reveal that things like Oxalates GMO Inoculations, and many other aproaches have all been shown to be only "Co Concurrencies" with the condition. and are all present to varying degrees in otherwise unaffected individuals.
The diagnosis of autism rests on the presence of a few main areas.
Obsessive/compusive/repettative behaviours etc
Communication difficulties, social interaction difficulties.
an varies hugely from one individual to the next. Einstien for example exhibited at least 2 of three areas, very obsessive, socially awkward. and didnt get jokes.

The condition is beginning to be understood more as a combination of factors
within the "Neurodiversity" of the human brain. that are present in everone to a greater or lesser degree. Some individuals get a bad combination.
It is no one thing...
So far genetic markers have only had statistical significance.
The human brain is still evolving, and it's coming out with "diverse" combinations. Sometimes you get an Einstien. but not very often.
You do however get a fair few geeks:thumbsup:

The lemon is not really necessary for neutralization of the oxalates. The calcium carbonate is what matters. Soft water rarely occurs in nature. Even rainwater is acidic with carbonate, so the rain quickly absorbs calcium and other nutrients from the ground.

Oxalates are ubiquitous especially in high nutrient foods.

The problem is places where people eat high oxalate foods AND use soft water for cooking and drinking.

Ireland is okay because their bedrock is largely fertile limestone, plus they use milk often.

Autism is a birth defect not from poisoning yourself with drinking or eating to much of one kind of thing.

1 Tea Bag makes 1 pint of tea.
You steep the tea bag in boiled water for 8-10 minutes.
You can also put the water in a glass with a tea bag in the direct sunlight for a couple of hours to make what's called sun tea. Summer is the best time to use the suntea method.

It’s not just the adulteted tea but also the chemicals in the food.Taking a six month break to good naturally grown food by both parties and not taking fancy meds before birth while the baby is in the womb. And if doctors say that it’s bad in the ultrasound, please listen and do a humane thing by exploring people who have autistic kids. They are definitely angles but should they suffer in reality.

That is an interesting one. I have no idea how the natural sunlight affects the flavor and composition of the tea. I do know that it has an effect and the essential vitamins a D and B12 need to be in the presence of UV light in order to form, even when they are synthesized.

The problem is that the title of this topic and first post make a wild claim without any scientific studies being offered as evidence.

Yes, we parents of autistic people understand that an ultrasound won't show autism, that tea doesn't cause autism, that sometimes people offer medical "advice" about autism that has no scientific support.
