Part of it, yes, other part of it, no. The one who runs the show -our Muppet PM- has more interest in following the EU agenda than the wellbeing of our country and its people.
There's newer upcoming politicians who do have vastly different views, and I welcome it. It's about time!
But it's not going fast enough to my liking. Not like in NZ, Iceland, Scotland they are making or already have plans on focusing on the people & country's well-being as opposed to making money only. I loved reading about that on FB the other day!
We are quite the progressive people, unfortunately the Dutch also have this attitude of "Don't be over the top, just be normal, that's crazy enough" which results in indifference ("nothing will change anyway") and apathy.
I first became aware of this when I tried doing online group courses with Dutch people. VERY hard crowd. I switched to international :)
It's quite the same in politics. Younger people often feel like "nothing will change anyway", the older generation has kind of given up on trying.
To be honest, it's sad. Makes it possible for the PM and his mates to run our country into the ground while they fill their own pockets.
Is it right, that your PM can overturn the outcome of a referendum? I read something about it a few weeks back on FB. I think, it was about a higher retirement age, which the referendum wanted to stop.
I don't know, it is possible. I don't think we had a public referendum though as then I would've heard of it.
But isn't it always possible for government to do that? The one in the UK was also not really binding in the end.
But our PM is someone who's not doing the right thing for our country. Thank goodness he's on his last term, which makes him worse as he's been creating a feathered nest for himself in the EU.
Forum for Democratie (FvD) is our best hope, but they've had some scandals unfortunately which affected them negatively :(
