It's obvious, that many of them enjoy
their mental illnesses.

I'm just asking, I am not saying it's a malady. Lack of a better term I guess.

Mental illness is the number 1 cause of drug abuse (yes it is a disease) and homelessness. Every single one of us is a life event away from a mental illness. (A life event away from homelessness) Car accident, tornado, passing of a loved one, abuse, financial recession, war even childbirth or puberty can trigger mental illness. Some short term some long term. Yet people tend to ignore their loved ones with mental illness and so many go on suffering needlessly. How many time times I've been told "just put a smile on your face" or " just get over it" I smiled all the way to the emergency room one day thinking I was having a heart attack! I'll never forget the moment the doctor said I want you to speak with someone from the psychology floor. I was like I'm having a heart attack and your sending me to the crazy unit? It saved my life. There's no shame in getting help. Our brain is an organ "the most important" in our body it can just like our kidney or skin get sick. Why don't we take care of it just as importantly??? If you're suffering there is hope! There is hope!

Thank you for your courage in telling us your truth.
I also have PTSD. It happened in my 20's when an ex decided to shoot himself. Gunfire all over our home. All I could do was jump on him and hold the gun down.
But it leaves it's scars.
Hence why I hate guns now.

I get triggered.

Your very right RCB.
Speaking personaly, Ihad been on a totally even keel all of my adult life.

One day my kidney went belly up, damn near killed me,
Came out of hospitol. And wife was seeing someone.
Bad week.
Bad few months..
You get through it, you get over it, you move on, but you're not the same carefree person for a long time.

I would have ticked a lot of boxes, that define mental illness for a few months.
It got a bit bleak in there.
I guess thats why I empathise with people who have a tough time.
It's still pretty fresh in my mind, just how grimm it can get.

But get help if you need to. There's no sense in suffering.
Well said RCB
