bergamot birch clary sage patchouli pink pepper rosemary vetiver I have top base and middle notes worked out only thing I need is the oil might use jojoba oil or olive I have that here what you think
not olive oil it has a strong scent ., jojoba would be better but personally I would use grapeseed ., it has little to no scent . As for drops ., the strong scents like pepper , rosemary , bergamot , sage and patchouli start with just two drops . 5 to 10 drops of birch . Haven’t smelt the Vetvier but it seems popular for aftershaves so perhaps add two to 5 drops you can always add more . Personally I would try Birch, pepper and vetvier and consider adding a couple of drops of either bergamont or vanilla ... test both on your skin . Vanilla works well with most woody basses... won’t smell sweet will just balance the pepper and add a subtle warmth . Which will develop the longer it is on your skin .
I have used cedar wood which is similar to birch with vanilla and quite liked that combo . Bergamot has a citrus scent which works well with woody bases but just remember any citrus scents can react in sunlight and cause a dermatitis / photosensitivity so less is more . Add bergamot last .. two drops . You could also consider adding a few drops of bourbon or whiskey as a base ... With a couple of drops of vanilla .
If you add two drops of each essential oil to a small amount of carrier oil (Tablespoon) you can then add each essential oil separately to the bourbon base and test each addition separately . It should be easy to work out which ones smell great on your skin and which ones layer well . Also check to see how the scent changes over a couple of hours
If you are interested in making aftershave your can use a clear spirit such as vodka with a small amount of oil or glycerin (moisturising agents to counter the alcohol) and essential oils for fragrance . Or you can use witch hazel which is a cheap Astringent sold at most chemists ) and add a blend of essential oils . Just remember to patch test a small area (other than your face ) to check for allergy /irritation . If you need help with volumes . I can give you some help with that too. Interested to know how you get on . Enjoy :-) hopefully you can get feedback from some of the gym bunnies lol., it would be a good ice breaker .
