I’ve never made my own fragrance. Maybe one day. waving

What are you thinking as far as your base layer, etc?

Funny...when I make my own fragrance I'm called inhuman and a barbarian...

I blame the pealing wallpaper on the spicy peppers...

Hi new gym guy ..waving I make lots of organic diy products . Have made fragrances in the past but a lot of diy fragrances rely heavily on essential oils .. can be overpowering if mixed incorrectly and there are only a few that I like the scent of . .. find them ok to use in serums , moisturisers and cleaning products but most I would not wear as a perfume ., Florals and what I call “hippie “fragrances are not me ., I gravitate to warm fragrances like amber and vanilla . What are you planning on using ???

Sounds like an amazing combination!

I prefer jojoba oils as a “binder” for a lack of a better word. Tho both should work well.

Try both! See which one calls to you.

Sounds like an overwhelming mix to me. Maybe buy a book on essential oils. These will help with the choices to mix and also how many droplets of each.
I would not use olive oil as that has a typical scent. Jojoba is probably better as carrier oil.
Also bear in mind that citrus oils come with photosensitivy, and bergamot is a citrus variety. So maybe not a good choice or use very little.

You're welcome.

Maybe this is helpful too. You could also look for fragrance dilution charts, but here's also for use on the body.

not olive oil it has a strong scent ., jojoba would be better but personally I would use grapeseed ., it has little to no scent . As for drops ., the strong scents like pepper , rosemary , bergamot , sage and patchouli start with just two drops . 5 to 10 drops of birch . Haven’t smelt the Vetvier but it seems popular for aftershaves so perhaps add two to 5 drops you can always add more . Personally I would try Birch, pepper and vetvier and consider adding a couple of drops of either bergamont or vanilla ... test both on your skin . Vanilla works well with most woody basses... won’t smell sweet will just balance the pepper and add a subtle warmth . Which will develop the longer it is on your skin .
I have used cedar wood which is similar to birch with vanilla and quite liked that combo . Bergamot has a citrus scent which works well with woody bases but just remember any citrus scents can react in sunlight and cause a dermatitis / photosensitivity so less is more . Add bergamot last .. two drops . You could also consider adding a few drops of bourbon or whiskey as a base ... With a couple of drops of vanilla .

If you add two drops of each essential oil to a small amount of carrier oil (Tablespoon) you can then add each essential oil separately to the bourbon base and test each addition separately . It should be easy to work out which ones smell great on your skin and which ones layer well . Also check to see how the scent changes over a couple of hours

If you are interested in making aftershave your can use a clear spirit such as vodka with a small amount of oil or glycerin (moisturising agents to counter the alcohol) and essential oils for fragrance . Or you can use witch hazel which is a cheap Astringent sold at most chemists ) and add a blend of essential oils . Just remember to patch test a small area (other than your face ) to check for allergy /irritation . If you need help with volumes . I can give you some help with that too. Interested to know how you get on . Enjoy :-) hopefully you can get feedback from some of the gym bunnies lol., it would be a good ice breaker . biggrin

Very cool that you make your own. I use them sometimes. My favorite is lavender.
