In my view,
While Trump started strong,
and remained marginally ahead on most topics,
On the last topic - 'Mail by Ballot'
Biden closed convincingly better.
Closing arguments can tip the scale.
So First Round to Biden
Second Presidential Debate
As we know the Media including Indian news here - are all leaning to the left and hammering to the public that T said this aso chew your hat; but for those of us who viewed the Debate - question is who won it this time?
Here is how T & B scored on 3 key points
and as you all know I'm a Trumpee so there is this bias
but feel free to change the score or modify if you feel so.
Here we go
--xx
1. On Coronavirus: Biden’s Charge:
"Anyone who is responsible for that many deaths should not remain as president of the United States of the America," Biden said. Biden warned a "dark winter" was looming and that with 220,000 Americans dead the president had failed from the outset to take control of the response to the virus.
Trump’s Defense:
T claimed that a vaccine was weeks away, but when pressed admitted: "It's not a guarantee." Trump said "it has a good chance by the end of the year" to be approved, and that he had a plan lined up for the military to help distribute millions of doses.
In fact at one point Trump appealed to Biden and said, ‘You must keep the economy open’. (It meant that Dem states should keep it open or if Biden is elected he must keep the country open - one could see as camera panned to Biden, he liked that - body language).
Round 1 - 0-0
Health Care: Biden Charged: Trump did not present a plan to replace the ACA despite four years of indicating one was imminent.
Trump Defense: Biden's plan amounted to socialized medicine that would threaten Medicare, the popular government health coverage for seniors.
Round 2 - Biden 1 - Trump 0
(because I could not see Trump's logic)
Corruption: Biden claimed I've not taken a penny from overseas’.
Then charged Trump with: not disclosing tax returns
Trump Defense: He had prepaid taxes in millions – his taxes were still under audit (since 4 years?)
Trump countered; Biden Brothers and son Hunter have been paid in (few) millions
Biden countered: ‘Americans are not interested in the standard of living of our families (T’s and B’s); they are interested in the S.O.L of their own families.
Clearly Biden could not deny that his family did rake in Euros during Obama’s terms
Round 3 - Biden 0 - Trump 1
General Performance:
Biden started well with his charges against Trump but he did not seem to have decisive content. There were also moments when Biden mixed words like 'Republican Congress'.
This was Trump's greatest moment - he did not punch but waited patiently for Joe to recover.
When the matter of incarceration of blacks in the 80s came up (Mod) - Joe gallantly admitted that he was in the error - and he justified it as due to the violence of those times.
Maybe he's right, or maybe he should have apologized; but somewhere after this point came up - Joe appeared to get bored or disinterested in further debating – seemed to go through rest of it as a formality. - As I review - I feel this is as a turning point - although people and media may not have noticed.
--xx
Trump on other hand, was also not his confident (rallying / aggressive) self. He did not fume when his lengthy explanations - were cleanly cut off by Mod
So Trump did not win in this section of General Performance.
--xx
Therefore it's my opinion that among st the two Biden has lower stamina to sit through long discussions. This Debate was a great opportunity to establish the level of confidence and credibility that was expected from a former vice president - but Joe Bidden, it's not him - it's his age - he allowed this to be squandered away.
While Trump did not do well - Biden, in the final moments gave it away.
General Performance: Biden: '-'1, Trump: 0
Conclusion: As I said, I'm biased but this time I will admit that Trump did not do as he does in his rallies - he appeared restrained - more like a dog on leash; leaving an image of immaturity
but Biden - did he actually win?
